Today was a beautiful day at the Growing Kindness Retreat, and I’m so thankful I could be part of such a warm, heart-felt gathering.
I was honored when Deanna of Growing Kindness™ Movement Nonprofit invited me to be their guest teacher, leading 25 kind souls in a hands-on flower arranging session at her flower farm in Conway.
Deanna’s flower farm is the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and take it all in. Rows of flowers, so many gorgeous dahlias, a darling little greenhouse, and the most peaceful setting for a day centered around kindness.
Together, we created sweet little floral arrangements that will be delivered to local senior care homes. As we arranged, I kept thinking about what those flowers really represent.
They say, someone is thinking of you.
You matter.
You are not forgotten.
There is something incredibly powerful about that simple gesture.
It was such a joy to teach the group how to build an arrangement, help them choose their flowers, and watch each person bring their own creativity to their piece. Twenty-five arrangements, each one a little different, each made with intention and destined to brighten someone’s day.
And then came lunch: a beautiful table surrounded by flowers, delicious food, wonderful company, and heartfelt conversations shared around a common purpose.
I left feeling incredibly grateful to have been included in this special day.
Growing Kindness is a reminder that kindness doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like gathering people together, putting flowers in their hands, and sending a little beauty out into the world.
Thank you, Deanna, for inviting me to be part of it. And thank you to all the lovely people I met today who welcomed me so warmly into your amazing group. What a treat it was to spend the day with you.
