Our Maine island high efficiency project is nearing completion--exterior envelope is done including the sun shades, heat pump system up and running and interior spaces getting their first coats of paint. Next up--flooring and cabinetry. Still awed by the stunning views!

I was honored to be able to give a truly amazing group of docents from the FLW Zimmerman & Khalil house tours (owned by the Currier Museum in Manchester, NH) a tour of one of my DCVL Design projects in Wilton, NH. This savvy group had terrific questions ranging from what constitutes a "Usonian" design today to how historic properties can be brought up to net zero.

Are you toasty? It’s that time of the year when we start to realize how expensive heat can be (especially if we are inadvertently heating the outside as well…). Be like our recent Hollis, NH project and build or retrofit to zero energy or passive and enjoy a warm, heating bill-free cold season!

Given the recent extreme heat waves and other climate-related issues, we wanted to share a bit of hope as we use our design abilities to help make our home a better place—

DCVL Design along with Fatema Maswood of Rhode Island School of Design has been chosen as one of six teams to represent the City of Cambridge for their Shade is Social Justice initiative!

We will be designing an art installation/shade shelter for one of the Cambridge public parks for summer of 2025.

More exciting progress on our Hollis NH project! Installation of the former historic home’s salvaged exterior frieze, door surround and pilasters. And on the inside, new meets old with the salvaged wood floors and original doors.

More progress on our Hollis, NH project—original trim and moldings have been installed, walls have been plastered and interior trim is underway. Thrilled that so much of the original 1820 millwork and doors have been re-used. Painting to happen soon!
