This custom jig was designed and 3D printed in the studio to help with the production of the glass designs.
It’s a small part of the process, but it’s also an important part of how I work: designing not only the finished piece, but the tools and processes that make it possible.

Material Contrast
A study in rich materials, refined finishes, and architectural contrast.
This mirror is available in four distinct material combinations, allowing it to move effortlessly from warm and traditional to crisp and contemporary:

Satin Brass + Dark Walnut — warm, sophisticated, and richly layered. The soft glow of satin brass complements the deep grain and character of dark walnut.

Each combination offers a different personality while retaining the same handcrafted, architectural character that defines Sand & Iron.

Matte Black + Dark Walnut — bold and dramatic. The understated black finish creates a strong architectural frame while the walnut adds warmth and organic texture.

Satin Brass + White Oak — lighter and more refined. The golden tone of satin brass pairs beautifully with the natural grain and lighter character of white oak.

Matte Black + White Oak — clean, modern, and graphic. The contrast between the dark metal and pale oak gives the mirror a distinctly contemporary presence.

Nature, reimagined. These handcrafted glass coasters feature delicate insect motifs in a richly distressed gold enamel—giving each piece a vintage, timeworn character against the glossy black glass.

A concept design from a few years ago exploring the intersection of furniture and sculpture.

This sculptural bench combines rich orange leather, deep black upholstery, and warm white oak. Organic, leaf-shaped backs rise from a sweeping upholstered form, creating a piece designed to make a statement from every angle.

The Modernist Ecosystem: From Pixel to Print

Behind every Sand & Iron piece is a workflow that’s half digital precision and half industrial grit. Welcome to the “brain” of the studio.
Right now, the station is a controlled chaos of:
• Digital Design: Refining botanical graphics and modernist patterns in Inkscape and Blender.
• Custom Tooling: 3D printing custom-fit frames to hold our screens perfectly in place—because off-the-shelf just doesn’t cut it for bespoke glass.
• Transparency Production: Printing high-density film positives to burn the finest details onto our mesh.
It’s a multi-layered process, but it’s the only way to get that razor-sharp accuracy when the enamel hits the glass. From the initial vector to the final kiln firing, every step is built on-site.
