My Dad Roared At Our Family Reunion, āIām Proud Of All My ChildrenāExcept The L0ser.ā I Walked Out⦠Then Returned With A Gift That Left The Whole Table Speechless.

The long oak table was covered with ribs, corn on the cob, and a leaning tower of cupcakes in red, white, and blue. My father lifted his beer glass high, foam spilling over the rim as the sunlight hit his plaid shirt. His voice cut straight through the chatter: āIām Proud Of All My ChildrenāExcept The L0ser."

Progress!ā The cousins laughed nervously. Even my father smirked, sipping from his glass as if I were just part of the entertainment. I sat frozen at the far end of the table, my soda can dripping cold water into my palm. Their laughter roared, but all I could hear was the echo of being twelve againāthe handmade Fatherās Day card he had tossed aside, the way my brothersā store-bought gifts had always earned his applause while mine went unnoticed. This time, I didnāt cry. I didnāt even blink.
