Uma has been designing i
nteriors for over a decade. She has led the design and project management for countless high-end residential projects. In 2015, Uma took her signature aesthetic and translated it into a line of interior textiles. The line is currently carried in exclusive trade-only showrooms throughout the country. Known for her ability to balance bold statements with understated sophistication, clients rely on Uma’s eye and taste to create interiors and experiences that are equally cool, approachable, and beautiful. Uma is inspired by art, and a well-read, well-traveled outlook on life. Uma’s design work and showroom have been featured in House Beautiful, Urban Agenda, NBC's Open House NYC, Romantic Homes Magazine, Bella in You Magazine, RealSimple.com, New Jersey Monthly, New Jersey Life, Domino, New Jersey Jewish News, and Millburn Short Hills Magazine. Uma’s design blog, Designing the Life, is widely read by design enthusiasts and professionals alike. Before launching Uma Stewart Interiors and Furbish Home, Uma worked as an acquisitions editor in book publishing and as a photo editor for a women’s fashion magazine. She studied design at Parsons and NYU, and has done graduate work in communications and culture. Her broad intellectual background continues to inform her design work.
