For this project, we designed four individual bedrooms, each one shaped around the personality, interests, and daily rhythm of the child who lives there. Because a great kids’ room should do more than look cute. It should work hard for sleep, study, play, and all the little moments in between.

Beige is not a personality.

We’re officially over homes that look polished but say absolutely nothing about the people living in them. A room should feel like a life is happening there, not like it was assembled to blend in.

We believe the best interiors reflect the stories and journeys of the people who inhabit them. That means getting personal and creating spaces that exude joy, not just another sea of safe, soulless beige. There are so many more options now for creating a home that feels layered and full of character. With the right mix of materials, color, texture, pattern, and furnishings, a home can feel much more expressive and much more you.

The best starting point? A room with history already built in.

This living room in rural Ireland already had the architectural details, history, and comfort that make a room feel like home. We simply wanted to give those good bones a lighter, more refined, and more current backdrop for the way this family lives and gathers now.

Inspired by a modern coastal cottage, the palette brings together soft blues, sandy neutrals, whitewashed finishes, linen, jute, and weathered wood. It’s relaxed and layered, with just enough polish to make the everyday feel a little more special. Swipe through to see the before photos and the vision for what comes next.

Does anyone have a country home or mountain cottage that needs a refresh?

I'm so drawn to custom tile work because it does something a store-bought backsplash just cannot do. It can set the tone for the whole room, bring in color in a more interesting way, and tie the home back to its setting or the people living in it. That is the fun of it. A hand-painted tile, a custom color, or a pattern with a little story instantly makes the kitchen feel more collected and less cookie-cutter.

In a country kitchen, I love the idea of bright, painted tile that feels cheerful. In a mountain cottage, earthy tones can make the whole space feel grounded and warm.
