I've always wanted a window seat where I could curl up with a good book or have plenty of natural light for drawing, but I don't have one. If you are lucky enough to have one, I'd love to make you a soft comfy cushion to curl up on, like this one that was picked up today. This window seat is particularly enticing to me because its not in the middle of a room, it's on a landing of a stairway, where you can escape other humans and have some peace and quiet. I've worked with these clients for over 25 years, in which time they've lived in 3 different houses.

This was my last job of 2025, installed just before Christmas. The blue floral fabric is unusual, it is made from 2 layers. The front fabric that you see is silky and shiny, while the back fabric is more of a chenille. The embroidery runs through both layers, which creates a wrinkled effect on the front. The cornices are made in 3 sections and I made the pattern of the fabric continue across all 3 sections. The caramel brown boxed pillows are made from a velvety corduroy, and the window seat cushion is made from a sturdy salt and pepper gray upholstery fabric.
This project was made for a client I've had for many years, and this is the third time I've dressed this area of their home. They have a large family that tends to gather in the kitchen, so this area gets a lot of use. They wanted to have it finished for their Christmas gathering as their adult children were coming into town. So I made it happen!

For the last 15 years or so I've been collecting fabrics. Not just any fabrics, but the most beautiful and unique fabrics I could find. I buy them up when companies go out of business, or the fabrics are discontinued and deeply discounted. I've been told that she who dies with the most fabric wins! But that's not my goal. My goal is to use these beautiful fabrics to make ready made items to sell in my "retirement", same custom quality, but with lower pricing. The day will come, and it's not far away, when I'll no longer be able to make 12 ft wide cornices or climb on ladders to install draperies. So since I can't fit any more fabrics into my house, it's time for me to start using them. More details are coming soon!
Here is a sampling of some of my favorites. As you can see I have a soft spot for cut velvets.
These retailed for between $150 to $200 PER YARD. I snatched them up at a deep discount, so I can make some beautiful things for your home at a reasonable price.

A couple months ago I got a call from a friend saying that he had just bought 2 chairs at a second hand store for 750 each. I said wow, they must be some pretty awesome chairs, and he said no, $7.50 each. And what would I charge him to reupholster them and fix the innards? Just so happens that my friend is a pretty handy guy when it comes to working on houses, and my house is over 100 years old so she's always needing something. So we decided to trade our skills instead of cash. I don't do as much upholstery work as I used to because it's very hard physically, especially larger pieces. But it's really hard for me to pass up working on gorgeous antiques. So we found him the perfect fabric from my stash and I got started. First thing they needed was to remove the old vinyl, which was applied in 1956 according to a tag on the bottom of one of the chairs. Naugahyde, the Best in Vinyl Upholstery, is stamped on the reverse side of the vinyl. Then the webbing needed to be replaced, and the springs re-tied, in the seats. Lots of prep work before they can get dressed again. Yesterday I finally got to apply the fabric to one chair back, and it looks beautiful! The fabric is a cut velvet which retailed for almost $200/yard, but I bought it when it had been discontinued and discounted. (I have a whole bunch of fabrics here that fit into that category. I may or may not have a fabric addiction. But it'll be put to good use soon! More on that later)

Installed yesterday!
This client wanted to duplicate her existing window treatments in her kitchen/dining area and laundry room. She had changed her color scheme from greens and golds to blue and white. She chose these beautiful fabrics and we made it happen!

These window treatments were installed today in a newly remodeled home in Kenton County. The large cornice in the living room features a neutral toned floral print fabric with solid contrasting overlays and lining on the jabots. The homeowner wanted to frame and soften the window without obstructing the view or natural light. The two smaller windows are located in the same room. I also made the 2" thick cushion in the bay window seat from the same solid fabric.
The cornice above the double doors is made from a beautiful embroidered fabric, and the cording on the top and bottom edges is in the same solid fabric as the living room. I also included a closeup photo of the fabric, it's gorgeous!!

Yesterday's installation.
These were made for one of those beautiful old historic homes in Newport.
I have included photos of the treatments after they were installed, and also closeups of fabrics from before they were picked up from me.
Using multiple, complimentary fabrics on a single treatment is one of my favorite ways to make them unique, and make each fabric more distinctive.

Delivered today!
Kitchen banquette seat cushion is made all in one piece, with 3" foam. I was pretty nervous about getting those angles right, it was pretty challenging, but it worked out great!
Backs are made in 5 separate cushions with 2" foam.
Two large cushions are in an attic playroom, made with 3" foam.

I knew that someday I would use this beautiful tassel trim I bought 10+ years ago when Hancocks went out of business! 😂

I tapped into my fabric stash and made these 2 gorgeous pillows for my living room.
