Her daughter-in-law, Christy, invited her to attend a home-based scrapbooking party. In a very short time, she completed her first album. The problem, there was no place in Spartanburg where she could find her supplies. Logistically, Greenville was too far for the number of trips Kathy needed to meet her scrapbooking needs! So, fueled with the passion to scrap the many photos of her family, Kathy
opened Scrapbook Creations. She felt a need to create a place for women. This would be a place where women could talk to each other about their lives and the loves of their lives – their family! She wanted a place where all ages could come together, make friends, and enjoy each other. Creating scrapbooks is putting our heritage on paper for our children and our grandchildren. When future generations look at our scrapbooks, they may see that they look or act like one of their ancestors. Thus, Scrapbook Creations was born. The first location was opened in the former Wal-Mart Center on E. When the center was being redeveloped and the current Lowe’s was being built, Scrapbook Creations lost their first home. But, a brighter future was in store. In May, 2004 the doors opened in Hillcrest Shopping Center where this bright and cheery store grew until 2007. As clientele grew, the product base expanded and the store had to expand as well. So, Kathy and her husband, Don, dove into the huge project of building their own store just a few miles further on E. In May, 2007 the Willis family proudly opened the new location with over 10,000 square feet of scrapbooking goodies. Also, under the same roof is a small café. In July, 2007 Ice Cream and Coffee Creations opened with a limited menu of coffee and ice cream, with plans to expand the menu to include deli-style sandwiches. Scrapbook Creations is worth the trip from wherever. Bring your family. While you stock up on your supplies, the children will enjoy the spacious playroom. Then everyone can visit the café for a delicious snack. Remember, scrapbooking is Keeping Our Memories Fresh!
