Now that we’re decked out for Christmas with all new plants, it’s time for the weekend! The potting bench will be open 12-5 Saturday & 11-4 Sunday.

Tons of $5 starts, plus all new hoyas & lipstick plants (& more of course). Should we do a restock of just rare Hoyas? And what kinds would you like to see?

How did I get good at plants? I killed A TON.

Even still, I’m constantly learning & adapting based on issues that come up with my plants. Just this morning I had one of my rehab plants finally kick the bucket.

Remember: it’s not about perfection, it’s about growing 😉

I haven’t seen many representations of what it looks like to climb out of a depressive episode when you have plants, so I wanted to create my own.

So what does it look like? A few lost leaves, a lot of watering to do, and some repotting needed. But not plants lost this time ❤️

I’d say South Perry Street Fair was a huge success for us. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. I’m so happy that I got to see so many friends (old & new).

In our shop, we do our very best to keep our plants happy & healthy so when you walk in every plant is at their best.

BUT, that isn’t always possible when it comes to plants. So here’s what we do to keep the store looking near perfect:

1. Consistent pruning. We prune almost weekly, watching for new growth & removing dying leaves as they yellow.

2. Consistent watering. I know, I know. I feel like I’m always talking about watering. But really, it is so important to be consistent. Bonus if you are consistent with fertilizer too.

3. Markdowns on sad plants. When a plant just isn’t its best and needs some extra care we can’t give it, it goes on sale so you can bring it back to life.

4. In-house rehab. We do a lot of rehabbing of our own too. If you buy a sale plant from us, more than likely it’s been touched by one of us.

5. Cleaning the leaves. We spray for pests & clean leaves regularly. This makes them all shiny & helps mitigate any pest problems we may have. Most plants get a biweekly spray down.
