The living room debate is real, but we’ve got the solution.

If you love the look of a clean, tailored sofa, but also want that kick-back-and-relax comfort, Magnificent Motion by Bassett gives you both.

It looks like a beautiful stationary sofa, but with hidden power reclining inside for next-level comfort. No bulky frames, no overstuffed look—just a sofa that works for how you actually live.

Basically, style and comfort for both of you. Everybody wins. Come try it for yourself.

Ever find a sofa online that you LOVE, except it’s the wrong size, wrong fabric, or just not quite comfortable enough?

That’s where Bassett’s True Custom Upholstery comes in—you can create seating that actually fits your home and the way you like to relax.

Here’s just a little of what you can choose:

🛋️ Your seating: Sofas in different sizes, loveseats, sectionals, sleeper sofas, swivel chairs, chaises, and ottomans.

🤎 Your style: Different arm shapes, back cushions, leg styles, wood finishes, and hundreds of fabrics and leathers.

☁️ Your comfort: Choose your seat depth and cushion feel. Love to sink in? Prefer a little more support? You have options!

And here’s why we love shopping for custom furniture in person: You can actually sit on the sofas, compare cushion comfort, feel the fabrics, and see the colors before making those decisions.

No guessing from a computer screen or settling for something that’s close enough.

Come explore our Bassett Custom Upholstery Gallery. Bring your room measurements, your inspiration photos, and your ideas. We’ll help you put it all together.

Your sofa has a backside—let’s make it pretty. If your living room has an open floor plan, don’t overlook this spot.

A console table behind the sofa is one of our favorite ways to make a room feel more finished. It helps define the living area without closing it off, gives you a place for lamps and decor, and adds a little personality to a space that might otherwise be forgotten.

We love how this black console table creates contrast against the warm leather sofa. Add a statement vase with branches, a beautiful lamp, a few books, and tuck an upholstered bench underneath for extra seating when you need it.

Ever hang a picture, step back, and think… something looks weird? Sometimes it's not the artwork, mirror or light fixture that's the problem. It's where you hung it.

A few inches can make a big difference in how a room looks and feels. From artwork above your sofa to dining room chandeliers and curtains, knowing where to hang things can help your whole room feel more balanced.

We put together a few of our favorite interior design measurements to take some of the guesswork out of decorating. And remember, these aren't hard rules. Every room is different, but they're great places to start. (More like guidelines than actual rules. 😅)

📌 SAVE this post for later. You'll be glad you have it the next time you're standing there with a tape measure and a hammer.

A home that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. 🤎 Soft places to land, warm wood tones, cozy textures, and little details that make a room feel inviting.

The best rooms aren’t just beautiful to look at, they’re the ones you actually want to spend time in.

We’re proud to call Spokane home.

Our family’s love for Spokane actually started back in the 1940s, when Arch Hanley, our grandfather and founder of the family business, was transferred here to the Air Force base. He fell in love with the city and decided this was where he wanted to put down roots.

And we’re so glad he did.

Since 1945, we’ve been lucky enough to be part of this community, helping generations of families create spaces where their own memories are made.

And while we love a beautiful chair, what we love even more is the feeling of coming home to one.

Here’s to Spokane, the city that captured our grandfather’s heart and the place we’re still proud to call home more than 80 years later.

OUR TAKE—Decorating for every season doesn't mean buying new décor. 🍂

Instead of filling your home with seasonal decorations, invest in a few beautiful, versatile pieces that complement your home's style year-round. Things like oversized vases, decorative bowls, trays, and baskets that look just as good in October as they do in April.

Then, simply switch out what's inside…

🍂 Fall—add branches with colorful leaves or dried stems.

🌲 Winter—try fresh greenery or pinecones.

🌷 Spring—bring in fresh flowers or flowering branches.

☀️ Summer—keep it simple with greenery or seasonal fruit.

The key is choosing pieces you genuinely love that work with your existing furniture and décor. That way, your home feels fresh with every season without having to buy (and find somewhere to store) a whole new collection of decorations.

Less seasonal clutter, more timeless style.

People might first walk through our doors for the furniture, but we’d like to think there’s something more that brings them back.

Over the years, we’ve gotten to know so many of our customers beyond just their furniture preferences. We’ve helped furnish their first homes, watched their families grow, celebrated new chapters, and welcomed them back whenever they’re ready for a change. And somewhere along the way, those customer relationships start to feel a lot more like friendships.

Sure, we love helping you find the perfect sofa or pull together a beautiful room, but it’s the conversations, the laughs, and the familiar faces walking through our doors that make this place so special.

After more than 80 years in Spokane, we know one thing for sure: the people are what make The Tin Roof feel like home.

If you've ever said, "I don't want a recliner in my living room," we have a few chairs that might change your mind.

We get it. Recliners haven't exactly had the best reputation when it comes to style. Big, bulky, and not always the prettiest thing in the room. But these, they look like beautiful accent chairs that just happen to recline.

And here's the best part: many of these styles can be customized in your choice of fabric or leather, so you can create a recliner that actually complements your sofa, rug, and overall living room style instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.

You don’t have to choose between a beautiful living room and a really comfortable place to put your feet up.

Swipe through a few of our favorites, then come try out a few. You might just become a recliner person after all.
