It's kind of wild to think about...

What started as a small radio repair shop in 1945 has grown and changed a lot over the years. We've sold radios, TVs, appliances, computers, and eventually furniture. Through it all, we've remained a locally owned family business.

Today, we help people furnish their homes, pick out rugs, find the perfect recliner, and create spaces they feel good to come home to. Sure, we're proud of the awards and recognition we've received over the years, but what really means the most is serving the Inland NW and seeing familiar faces walk through our doors generation after generation.

A special Happy Father’s Day to Jim Hanley—father, grandfather, and second-generation owner of The Tin Roof. We’re grateful for the example he’s set through hard work, generosity, and a lifetime of dedication to family and community.

And here’s a fun Spokane fact: Did you know Father’s Day was founded right here in Spokane, Washington? In 1910, Spokane resident Sonora Smart Dodd organized the first Father’s Day celebration to honor her father, a Civil War veteran who raised six children on his own.

Today, we’re thankful for all the fathers who show up, lend a hand, share their wisdom, and make a house feel like home. Happy Father’s Day from all of us at The Tin Roof. 🥰

One of the questions we get asked most often is: "Where did the name The Tin Roof come from?" The answer goes back to 2000, when Heather (Arch Hanley's granddaughter) returned from college to help her dad, Jim, grow the furniture side of the business.

Furniture quickly became the heart of the showroom and by 2004 it was obvious the old name no longer reflected who we had become. A new chapter deserved a new name and The Tin Roof was chosen.

While the name changed, one thing did not—our commitment to treating customers like neighbors and helping them create homes they love.
