More of this in 2026.
A diary entry to reflect on a year from now.
What is interior design to me today?
One thing that has never changed since I first started rearranging my room as a girl, is that ID is a lot about the emotions it evokes for me. I don’t think I realized this until I became an interior designer, and one day walked into my family room on an autumn afternoon. I saw the most beautiful golden light cast across the room and it brought me straight back to a young girl, walking home from the bus stop in the autumn. My mom would be frying apple stuffed piroshki and the smell would carry outside as we were getting close to the front door. Once I made it to our family room, pirashok in hand, the most beautiful golden light would be cast across the room.
And now that is the feeling I design with. The feeling I dream up my dream home with. It is more than just flooring and tile. More than fixtures and finishes. Designing a home for you to walk into and reminisce over your childhood in, while your children grow up in what is now their childhood home. For you to feel joy in, on the happy days and comfort, on the sarrow filled ones.
That is why no one home is designed the same. What evokes emotions for me in a space, isn’t the same for you, and my desire as an interior designer is to create the home that your emotions have been dreaming up for you.
