This is a very special journal for a very special friend. Made with fabric designed by The Alien Art Shop and faux leather in lieu of genuine leather, it includes a handy flap on the inside back cover. Because the recipient prefers a medium with heavier ink, I went with a mixed media paper that can handle just about anything without bleeding through. The print pattern includes an alternating line print with space for logging the phases of the moon day by day. Very neat! Equipped with a 1” detachable shoulder strap that is conveniently adjustable for many sizes. Every stitch was made by hand. The clasp is the first wooden button I’ve made, but it was so special that I wanted to include it. Finally, the tie string is braided h**p that terminates with a charming cowrie shell. I’m very proud of this and shared it with y’all to showcase how far a custom book order can go!
P.S. Maybe the greatest feature of these long stitch journals is that they are reusable! Once it gets all filled up, the pages can be stitched into another book in a binding style more suited to a shelf. The case can then be refilled with fresh pages to be filled once more! Definitely a great way to minimize material when you need a replacement book inexpensively!
