This Ho**er Chest was in excellent condition, but needed an update in color. I decided to go with a classic black, but add some champagne bronze rub and buff to help it stand out. I love the color combination!

This solid cherry dresser was in desperate need of a makeover. It had great bones, but a fresh new look was definitely called for. I mixed a custom color using green and blue; and can I just say WOW! I am in love. The brushed brass hardware goes perfectly with the paint color and the American Walnut I used still allows that beautiful cherry to shine through. Tell me what you think?

This 1930s buffet was in dire need of a makeover; not only was the finish failing everywhere, but the drawers were all dried out and were difficult to open. After scraping and sanding down the top I put a beautiful American Walnut stain on it only to find that a stain, the size of a small cantaloupe, magically appeared in one spot. I sanded it back down, reapplied the prestain conditioner and the spot came back, so I did it again with the same result. After sanding 3x I couldn't risk going through the veneer, so I moved into gel stain. I bought a beautiful Briarsmoke color that was supposed to be a warm brown with a little bit of smokiness and it turned it blue gray! Major panic! Then I used a Dark Walnut and it turned out beautifully. But can I just say: I hate gel stain. I struggled so much with it... But in the end I am happy with the results. After a total of 15 hours invested, I am pleased to say this will be delivered to her new home soon!

While this piece was, for the most part, in good condition, it seemed like if it could go wrong, it did. Happy to say that I am more than relieved to have this piece done. It used to have a massive metal piece on the bottom and I am so glad I got rid of it. My original plan was to remove the flower decals, but they are sunken in and I didn't want to use that much Bondo to fill it. So, I went with some brown wax to compliment the oil rubbed bronze hardware I used. Sometimes a simple white is all it needs.
