I remember when I was about 4 years old and attending VBS, the catchy songs we would belt out were my favorite. And I remember specifically, “This Little Light of Mine.” I’d concentrate so hard to do the motions perfectly and sing the words perfectly. Of course, later on I realized that wasn’t the focus at all, but I reminisce on that little girl who would strive for perfection while singing that timeless song.

We get older and life happens. Illnesses, tough times, losing loved ones, and we notice our little light, that we tried so hard to keep so perfectly bright, starts to flicker and get dim. Our light gets hidden under a bushel, but no! We have to let it shine. It’s a domino effect, really - our energy is contagious. Positivity and kindness are absorbed and redistributed. Imagine how bright our dark, sad world would be if we shined so brightly everyone around us felt warm. So today, while you’re out and about, don’t blow out someone else’s candle. Light it! Spread love. Spread light. And…

Let it shine. Let it shine all the time, let it shine.
