Native stone floating hearth, venetian plaster and rift sawn white oak …thoughtful details made all the difference updating this fireplace to be a commanding focal point in this formal living room.

The fireplace is finished in Venetian plaster and anchored by a natural stone hearth sourced from a nearby quarry. It is flanked by custom rift-sawn white oak cabinetry, seamlessly recessed into the wall for a clean, integrated look. We are thankful we could make this beautiful design by Ashley Cardiel Interiors come to life!

Where architecture exhales and nature speaks.

For the River Retreat great room, every decision was guided by restraint and intention. The goal was never to compete with the view, but to frame it—allowing the river to remain the focal point while the interiors foster a deeper sense of presence, restoration, and ease.

We selected all fixed finishes during construction, emphasizing honest materiality to anchor the space and create a sensory connection to the landscape beyond the windows. Performance textiles were thoughtfully layered to support life moving effortlessly between indoors and out. Every surface and soft good was chosen to feel grounded, tactile, and enduring.

Drapery and a layered rug were introduced not only for softness underfoot, but to warm the acoustics—balancing the liveliness of wood, stone, and glass so the room sounds as calm as it looks.

NEUROAESTHETICS NOTE:
We use materiality, texture, and acoustic balance to gently cue the nervous system’s parasympathetic response toward calm and clarity—designing spaces that help the body relax and the mind fully arrive.

The question we hear most at the beginning of the year: “Where do we start?”

On this project, collaboration began early, working alongside the architect, landscape architect, and the contractor during design development—before the floor plan was finalized. This is one of the most impactful moments to involve your interior designer.
When we’re brought in early, construction documents can fully reflect the intention, detail, and cohesion of the final home.

And what often surprises clients most?

Our work doesn’t start inside—it begins at the exterior, ensuring materials, scale, and curb appeal tell the same story as the spaces within.
