Sangamon Reclaimed is a family owned and operated small business. The founder is a local firefighter and Veteran that recognized not only the beauty and strength of local, rural American barns, but also what they stand for. At Sangamon Reclaimed, we believe in honoring our past and preserving it for future generations to come. All of the wood we use in our products has been reclaimed from barns ac

ross the Midwest or local felled trees and transformed into an heirloom quality piece by our team of craftsmen in house. Our craftsmen consist of a skilled team who meticulously care for the lumber that comes through our shop, which have stood in the form of barns or trees as a sign of progress and livelihood for families in rural America for over 100 years. Our Craftsmen take special care to clean and prepare the wood while retaining the strength and beauty that gives it the unique appeal that cannot be imitated. Many of our barns have stood as a symbol of the American Spirit for generations. Let them continue to stand, in your home or business, for generations to come. We have added additional services to our shop as it has grown over the years. We now have a 52" mill on site as well as a kiln that can hold up to 26' lengths. We offer an Indoor Lumber Yard with hard and softwoods, dimensional and live edge lumber, and authentic, local barn wood for purchase for your own projects. All of our lumber is locally and ethically sourced then kiln dried, including an organic life kill, to ensure structurally sound and high quality material for your projects. We are also able to take YOUR barn wood, lumber or felled tree and process it in the same way we process our own lumber. You are welcome to take that processed lumber, or we will work alongside you to design and craft beautiful, heirloom pieces for your home or office.

The WALNUT Bookmatched Table
Can you envision your family around this one of a kind, Walnut, pedestal dining table?

Stretching 12' long and averaging 38" wide (you can see how little our shop helper looks!), this table is sure to carry memories, stories, good times and bad throughout the years.
This piece was handcrafted from a set of bookmatched walnut slabs, edges left natural, and the bases turned for a pedestal style. It is finished a matte conversion varnish ensuring it lasts generations.

The Turnt BOWLS
Handcrafted, these bowls undergo a process like none other!

Each of these pieces are taken from "chunks" of wood or burls. A burl is a bulbous, rounded tree growth usually found on tree trunks and sometimes on branches. They form as the result of stress that its tree has undergone. Burls can be as small as your fist or larger than a person.
Burls will turn without consistency, and you have no idea what you're getting on the inside!

For the other "chunks" of wood, these are typically cross cuts of the tree resulting in a bowl that could be lackluster in character. However, with a couple months time and some good ole beer, spalting can occur creating a beautiful array of striations and colors.

Bowl carving, drying, and finish turning will take up to a year! But the result speak for themselves.

The RECLAIMED Table
Built from Reclaimed Cherry, this console table was designed to fit in a space that was "impossible to buy for". This space had unique dimensions that you can't find on the shelves of big box stores, but with one conversation we had the table designed and ready to start production.
Left with a double live edge, this single slab of Cherry was dried to 6% moisture before we began the stabilizing, epoxy fill, and sanding stages. We dry our lumber to ensure they will stay stable over time!

The MANTEL
Adorning this gorgeous fireplace, you'll find reclaimed beams not only as the mantel, but as accent beams to really make this front wall a statement piece! The final touch is an accent table and benches!

Historic, reclaimed beams not only give character, warmth, and LIFE to your space, but they are a great way to tell a story whether it be local or history or family beams.
**The Mortise and Tenon pockets left on display in the upper beam really bring the whole space together! Did you know this is how they secured posts/beams in barns? Typically, you'll find wooden pegs as the final stabilizing piece in this kind of joinery. This is also where we got our inspiration for the Lincoln Table as the legs are joined in the same manner they were centuries ago.
