THURSDAY JUNE 4 - No Burn- Elevated fire danger will continue today due to very little recent rainfall, increasing southwest winds, and low relative humidity. Prevent wildfires by being careful with any outdoor activities involving fire/sparks. For the latest open burning information, please visit: www.dnr.state.mi.us/burnpermits/.

More clouds today than the last few days, but still a bit warmer and breezier too. Elevated fire danger continues today. Some showers and a few thunderstorms will be in the area beginning tonight (especially late), persisting through Saturday. The best chance for rain is Friday night. Temperatures will cool off a bit this weekend, even as rain moves out by Sunday. Warm to hot weather looms for early next week.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 3 2026-"NO OPEN BURNING IS PERMITTED ANYWHERE IN ALCONA COUNTY" Special Weather Statement issued June 3 at 4:48AM EDT by NWS Ga***rd MI
The combination of drying fuels and very low relative humidity values will result in elevated fire danger conditions across northern lower Michigan today. Light west winds will only occasionally gust to near 20 mph this afternoon. But relative humidity values will drop to 15 to 25 percent in much of northern Michigan. These conditions support the quick start and spread of wildfires, so be sure to take the proper precautions to prevent fires from starting.

Elevated fire danger is expected to return on Thursday.

MONDAY JUNE 1, 2026-TODAY-Alcona and surrounding counties "NO OPEN BURNING" Due to:Elevated fire danger across northern lower Michigan today.
The combination of drying fuels, low relative humidity values, and
breezy winds will result in elevated fire danger conditions across
northern lower Michigan today. Easterly winds will increase to
around 10 mph this afternoon, with gusts around 20 mph. Relative
humidity values between 20 and 30 percent are expected across
most of northern Michigan. These conditions support the quick
start and spread of wildfires, so be sure to take the proper
precautions to prevent fires from starting.
