🥖 That irresistible aroma of freshly baked sourdough starts long before the loaf comes out of the oven! Our sold-out, hands-on class gave bread lovers the chance to get to know sourdough from starter to finished loaf.

Sourdough Bread • October 13 with Melissa Clendenin

Bread baker Melissa Clendenin guided students through the essentials of sourdough success, including caring for a starter, recognizing when it’s ready to use, folding and shaping dough, and scoring the top before baking. Students also explored the benefits of overnight fermentation and learned how resting and rising times contribute to the bread’s flavor and texture.

Melissa shared ideas for making each loaf distinctive, with additions ranging from dried fruit, nuts, and seeds to olives, jalapeños, cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes. Everyone took home sourdough starter to continue the adventure in their own kitchen!

There’s something special about mastering a bread-making tradition and knowing your next loaf begins at home.
