CAPTURING THE SILK-SMOOTH PRECISION OF THE NORTHWOODS.
There is a specific challenge in carving the Cedar Waxwing: capturing the seamless, "painted" transition of its plumage without losing the structural integrity of the bird.
In this mantle display, Tim Wiley has utilized decades of competitive experience to master that very transition. From the sharp definition of the black mask to the vibrant "wax" tips on the wings, every detail is a testament to the 2-to-4-week process required for a single Wiley carving.
Mounted on weathered wood and accented with hand-crafted berries, this piece is designed as a centerpiece for the serious collector who values Michigan’s avian heritage as much as the art itself.
