Fishing at the lake. Building sand castles at the beach. Scavenger hunts through the woods. Catching fireflies in the fields.

Let’s turn those magical moments into forever memories.

So many times we plan for the unexpected. We have contingencies and back ups and lots and lots of “what ifs.”

But what if we made some art depicting everything going right. What if we used our art as a representation of the best possible outcome. A way to visualize a goal or a dream. What if just seeing your vision on a piece of paper was the first step needed for success.

10 minute practice:
Sketch, paint, draw, make a collage, or use another art form of your choice to depict something upcoming. Choose something in the near future, no more than 30 days away. Maybe it’s a trip you want to go right. Or a job interview you have. Or an event you’re planning. Pick something you want to go right. Then capture it on paper. It doesn’t have to be a literal image of the “thing.” Maybe it’s the color of how you’ll feel when you succeed. Maybe it’s the shape of your heart being full. Really imagine the best possible outcome as you’re creating.

Drop a ✨if you’re practicing this week.

Sometimes surprises catch you truly off guard, and this was one of them! We are honored to announce that Valerie's original poem, "Glory Calling," received an Honorable Mention award in The Painted Words writing competition presented by Steamboat Art Museum.

The Painted Words invites writers to come experience the Oil Painters of America Exhibition and find a piece that inspires a story. Told in prose or poetry, the writer extends what the artist has begun in visual form into the written word. "Glory Calling" time travels between the narrator's childhood memories and the present day, weaving together a family history both poignant and captivating. The poem was inspired by the painting "Glory Days" by Chris Thomas Fine Art.

The 2026 Painted Words anthology is now available at Steamboat Art Museum, if you want to peruse the entire body of work and read the poem. This year, they received twice as many submissions as they ever have in the past! A true testament to our dedicated writing community!

Thank you to all the sponsors who made this event possible and support the arts in the Yampa Valley!

A craft project can be more than just an activity. It can be a way to make sure your brand is remembered by your guests.

For Steamboat Resort, we designed projects inspired by their brand, and made our own creative twist on the Steamboat Gondola and Arnold Barn. These drop-in craft projects gave guests a creative way to engage with the resort while making their own souvenir to take home.

We loved the opportunity to bring their vision to the craft table, and we’re so grateful to Heidi and Traci for trusting us to make memorable guest experiences.

Here’s what they had to say.

"Valerie developed creative, easy-to-complete crafts that incorporated the Resort's branding. Valerie handled every detail with professionalism, creativity, and ease. We look forward to working with her again next summer."

Planning an event or looking for a creative activity that feels uniquely yours? We love working with organizations to turn an idea, theme, or brand into a hands-on experience.
