1. Super light, bleached out, white finish. Beautiful, but it can make an entire house feel flat when the cabinets, walls and furniture are all equally pale.

2. Gray LVP
We can officially leave this one in the 2010s. Especially the cool, blue-gray planks. If you want LVP, there are dramatically better natural wood visuals now.

3. Cheap Engineered hardwoods. Trust us when we say if you want to save money don’t buy cheap versions of “wood”. You can’t refinish them (despite what people may tell you).

It pays to do it right the first time. We literally get calls to fix hack jobs every week.

So before you choose the “lowest bid” consider how they got that number. In order to stay in business low cost projects have to cut their cost somewhere. Often that is by using inexperienced installers or subpar materials.

Would you buy your floors from Temu? 👀

We’ve all ordered something online because it looked exactly like the expensive version, only to open the box and realize… yeah, there’s a reason it was cheaper. 🫠

Two floors can look nearly identical online, but that doesn’t mean they’re the same quality.

Wear layer. Core construction. Finish quality. Milling. Warranty. Where and how it was manufactured. Even how consistently the product is graded from box to box.

Those details matter when you’re putting thousands of dollars of material into your home.

And the price of the material is only one piece of the project.

There’s also ordering the correct quantity, inspecting material, handling damaged or missing product, coordinating delivery, storing it properly and making sure everything is ready when installation begins.

So yes, you might find a floor online that looks the same for less but looking the same and being the same are two very different things. Hire a professional if you want great results.
