Northern Neck Coins & Antiques, Inc.

Northern Neck Coins & Antiques, Inc. Specializing in the purchase and sale of valuable coins, currency and antiques. My interests evolved to rare coins and antiques as the years passed.

This addiction turned business started on China Hill Road in Richmond County, Virginia in the early 1990s when I used to find clay pipes and arrowheads in the fields on our property after a fresh plow or rain. As my income grew, so did my taste in those coins and antiques, so I created this business in 2011 to professionally justify those habits. I've been fortunate to have met and dealt with thou

sands of kind and interesting people with great stories and impressive collections over the past decade and I'm looking forward to serving many more throughout my life. Despite the thrill of the hunt being powerful, it'll always be the people that make it the most entertaining. I thank you all for your continued trust and support. Respectfully,
Jared Davis

5,000 of these were minted in 2001 with 2.4 oz. of gold from the California Gold Rush that ended up in the shipwreck of the S.S. Central America, which sank on September 12, 1857.

I’ve only had 3 of them come through the shop over the past 15 years and they’ve all been from the same person. I used to only have to dish out 4-figure sums to get one, but now they command 5 digits.

The gold may have sunk, but the price sure didn’t.

He was born in rural New Jersey in 1937.

His parents passed away when he was 16.

He was granted a partial scholarship to play running back at Davis & Elkins College when helmets were open-faced and made of leather.

Dirt poor, he walked into his local bank in NJ to get a loan for the rest of his schooling and they agreed on a handshake.

Upon graduation, he became an Officer in the U.S. Navy and found himself in many near death situations in Vietnam including a time when he had to hide himself under dead bodies to avoid being captured by the enemy.

He served in the Navy for 27 years reaching the rank of Captain.

He retired to the Northern Neck where he became a farmer and worked his 50 acres hard for the rest of his life despite being riddled by the effects of Agent Orange exposure.

Along the way, he managed to amass a $150,000+ coin collection.

Mike Wolfe American Picker cut me a deal on this old American Express sign. Appreciate seeing the crew every time we stop by on our way to Nebraska.

A recent graduate of Cornell University was given these two 1 oz. American Gold Eagles as a graduation present and she decided to cash them in toward an investment in a PhD from the University of Georgia.

Not a bad trade.

Had a 95 year old client this week and these gold coins had been passed down to her by her grandfather who was born and raised in King George in the 1800s.

She only requested to keep a Gold Princess Head Dollar that she wore in her shoe on her wedding day and that the coins proceeds go to her grandchildren.

The Bank of Westmoreland and Bank of King George envelopes are my favorite part though.
