Unfortunately, it’s that time of year when 6 PM somehow feels like 9 PM.

And when the lights come on inside, your windows suddenly feel a lot less private.

Motorized shades can lower automatically as the sun goes down, so you’re not doing a full lap around the house every evening closing everything yourself. You can set them to follow a schedule, tie them into lighting scenes, or adjust them from your phone when needed.

More people are about to spend more time indoors. Is your network actually ready for that?

Once the weather turns, the whole household seems to end up at home more - streaming, gaming, working, all competing for the same bandwidth at the same time. If your network was already stretched thin over the summer, add a few more hours of daily use and it usually shows.

Now’s a pretty good time to check the setup before winter break and holiday guests really put it to the test.

Heads up for anyone with an older Control4 system. 👋

Cloud services for OS2 are shutting down by the end of 2026, which means remote access, integrations, and updates stop working on those systems when the deadline hits.

That means upgrading to X4 is the smarter move if you want a better interface, more personalization, and Apple HomeKit integration. And in our opinion, it’s a worthwhile upgrade beyond just keeping things running.

Sonos just introduced Amp Multi, a new whole-home audio amplifier built specifically for professional installation.

Why we’re excited about it? One Amp Multi can power and control up to four audio zones, giving us a much cleaner and more flexible way to bring Sonos throughout the home.

For homes with older audio systems, built-in speakers, or existing speaker wiring, that can make upgrading a whole lot easier. In many cases, we can use what’s already there, replace outdated equipment, and bring the system up to date without starting from scratch.

With lighting and AI dominating the headlines this year, it's easy to think cinema quieted down. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

One of the more extreme demos on the CEDIA 2026 floor was an 11.8.6-channel immersive cinema built with Christie, Trinnov, Lumagen, and Kaleidescape. Origin Acoustics took a different angle entirely. It was less about individual speakers and more about how audio fits into a home’s design.

The common message? You’re never really just selling speakers, you’re selling the moment the room disappears around you.

One more manufacturer just decided it’s easier to build for Control4 than around it.

Somfy announced native Control4 integration coming for its Zigbee 3.0 shade motors and ADI used their floor space to show off a full ecosystem of Control4, lighting, audio, and surveillance operating as one system.

Thirty years into this business, and watching it expand is exactly the kind of thing that gets us excited!

CEDIA dedicated 22,000 square feet this year to something called ‘Destination Outdoors.’

And no, we’re not talking about a row of weatherproof speakers on folding tables, we’re talking about a full residential environment.

Lutron and Coastal Source showed off VIA - outdoor lighting, control, and engineered audio fixtures designed as one integrated system. Audio, lighting, networking, and power, all treated as one whole package.

We’ve been designing outdoor projects this way for a while so it was amazing to see the industry finally catching up!
