STORE CLOSING

After much thought and many difficult conversations, I have made the decision to close Bedford Furniture, located in Broadway Plaza.

Since 1957, Bedford Furniture has proudly served the Sterling community. For nearly 70 years, we’ve had the privilege of helping generations of families furnish their homes, and I am incredibly grateful for the friendships and relationships we’ve built along the way.

The retail industry has changed dramatically over the years, and it has become increasingly difficult for small, locally owned businesses to compete. This was not an easy decision—my mom always taught me never to quit—but sometimes change is necessary, and I believe this is the right time for a new chapter.

As a way of thanking our customers for their support over the years, we will begin our total liquidation sale with 25% off almost all purchases. I wanted to give my friends and regular customers the first opportunity to shop before we announce it more broadly.

We proudly carry Sealy, Tempur-Pedic, England, Flexsteel, and many other quality brands.

It would help greatly if people would share this post. I need a lot of organic reach to get liquidated.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Bedford Furniture over the years. Your loyalty and friendship have meant more than I can put into words. While I’m not yet sure what the next chapter holds, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to serve this wonderful community.

Heritage Festival is coming!!!

The 2026 July 4th Heritage Festival will begin with the opening ceremony at 10:00 AM in Heidi Park, directly across from the museum. The local VFW and American Legion will present the flag followed by Chance Wright singing the National Anthem. The museum curator Kay Rich will give a short welcome. There will also be an introduction of our historical reenactors from the Logan County Arts League (LOCAL). These reenactors are depicting local historical figures from the city and county—people like Carrie Ayres, the first Sterling school teacher, or Mabel Frank Markham, proprietress of the Dailey Store. The reenactors will be spread throughout the museum and a few will be wandering the grounds.
