Our clients knew they wanted a stone feature wall, and after numerous attempts at trying to get it right, they brought in the experts. 💪🏼 You’re going to want to swipe for the before to see.

The idea wasn’t the problem. It was all the little decisions surrounding it that were starting to add up.

There’s a tendency to think that adding more detail, more trim, more embellishment = a more interesting finished result. But when everything is asking for your attention… what exactly are you supposed to be looking at?

We changed the stone, removed a whole lot of the visual busyness, simplified the built-ins and let the things that should be getting the attention actually get it.

Often times good design isn’t about adding more, it’s knowing when to stop. “Edit” is a word we use quite often in our studio.

We think the results speak for themselves.

Something many of you may not know about me is that I’m a shelter volunteer AND a content creator for a local nonprofit focused on helping deserving shelter pets find homes. ❤️

I see all the fun content my design colleagues create and definitely have a little FOMO. But between running my business, home life and volunteering, there’s just not a whole lot of time or creative energy left for clever creations to keep the algorithm happy.

And quite honestly, it’s hard to justify spending hours creating content to promote my business when I know there are so many animals sitting in shelter kennels just waiting for someone to notice them. That’s where my heart (and a good bit of my creative energy) goes.

So instead of a bunch of fun, trendy or clever content telling you what we know, you’re going to get a front-row seat to what we actually do. Plenty of messy construction, really cool materials and products, lots of behind-the-scenes chaos, some challenges along the way, and those exciting (and sometimes stressful!) installs when everything finally comes together and then, of course, some of the wonderful shelter dogs I spend my time with.

September has been SUPER busy, with numerous projects coming to a head. Here’s a little peek at what’s been happening in our world, with adoptable Bella leading the way. 👀

And if you’re passionate about helping homeless animals too, head over to Prince William Animal Advocates for a glimpse of all the babies we work so hard to get seen and into loving homes. 🐾❤️

Color never goes out of style. 💜

This project is 10 years old (😱) and still makes us just as happy as the day we installed it.

And apparently we were color drenching before color drenching was a thing.

People often ask if we have a signature style. The answer is no… unless you consider good design a signature style. 😉

Every bedroom in this carousel came from our studio, yet not one of them looks quite like the next- and that’s on purpose.

We’ve never believed our job is to recreate the same room over and over again or leave our personal aesthetic stamp on every project. Our role is to understand the people who live there and create spaces that feel like an elevated extension of them. Get them to a place that they couldn’t on their own.

Some peoole want a bedroom that feels calm and restorative. Others want color, personality, and a little drama. Some are drawn to the feeling of a boutique hotel, while others want a cozy retreat full of cherished collectibles that helps them shut out the world at the end of a long day.

Of the few we posted which feels more like you? Or maybe none of them do. After all, the best bedrooms to wake up in are the ones designed around the people who live in them, and we haven’t designed yours yet.
