Turn kitchen scraps into warm winter atmosphere with a dried citrus and cinnamon garland. 🍊✨
Before tossing orange, lemon, or grapefruit peels, give them a second life as a fragrant boho accent for your home sanctuary.
You’ll need:
• Clean citrus peels or thin citrus slices
• Cinnamon sticks
• Twine or sturdy natural cord
• A skewer or hole punch
• Scissors
• Optional: whole cloves, dried bay leaves, or a paint pen
How to make it:
1. Cut peels into simple shapes, or use thin citrus slices. Remove excess moisture.
2. Dry the citrus completely in a low oven or dehydrator until firm and no longer damp. Cool fully.
3. Carefully make small holes, then thread the citrus and cinnamon onto twine.
4. Tie secure knots at each end, leaving space between pieces.
5. Hang it across a mantel, cabinet handle, or near a sunny window.
For a boho-chic finish, add natural twine, muted cream ribbon, or a tiny hand-lettered word such as “gather,” “warmth,” or “home.”
Safety note: Use adult supervision with ovens, sharp tools, and skewers. Make sure citrus is fully dry before displaying, discard anything showing moisture or mold, and keep the garland away from flames, heaters, and pets.
This mindful project turns food scraps into handcrafted decor. It can also inspire a thoughtful March wedding detail: small bundles could welcome guests or become a fragrant thank-you gesture.
Would you keep yours natural and rustic, or add pearl white, champagne, or soft sage accents?
