Need a little motivation to finish those handmade gifts before the holidays? Our much-loved Finish Four Before Box returns for 2026; packed with inspiration, high-quality yarns, and everything you need to create beautiful, gift-ready projects.

Each box includes supplies for at least 4 complete knit projects.

Whether you give the finished projects or keep them for yourself...we won’t judge!

Patterns are not complicated. They are great for a newer knitter, or an experienced knitter that needs to knock out some gifts fast!!

The Workbox comes with a magnet at the bottom and a pair of coordinating scissors. The Clip & Stitch includes a handful of various yarn needles, and the Marker Pod...needs to be opened slowly. It’s FULL of markers (isn’t it, Julie. ;)

A customer came into the shop last week wearing her recently finished 4-in-12 sweater, and I immediately noticed a modification she had made. The pattern calls for a vertical lace design from shoulder to hem, but hers transitioned to stockinette stitch halfway down.

I commented on how much I liked the change. She laughed and explained that she’d been dropping stitches in the lace pattern and was, in her words, “over it.” Rather than keep fighting with the lace, she switched to simpler stockinette.

Her reasoning? “I did it so that I didn’t end up hating my sweater.”

Her honesty made me laugh, partly because I could relate! Sometimes we think modifying a pattern means we’re taking the easy way out. But there’s nothing wrong with recognizing when a particular technique is making a project less enjoyable and finding another way forward. In this case, her “easy way out” resulted in a really beautiful sweater.

Patterns are there to guide us, not boss us around. If a little modification makes you happier with the finished project, I’d call that a win.

If it also keeps you from hating your sweater, even better. 😄

If it involves wool in its most natural state, Carroll is your person. One of our longest-running team members, she teaches spinning, plans memorable adventures for our customers, and can usually be persuaded to talk about sheep, or her grandbabies!

📣It’s Stillwater Harvest Fest this weekend.

It’s one of the busiest weekends of the year in town, so if you are planning on coming to the shop, we’d suggest coming early in the day.

If you come for the festival, which you should because it is very cool seeing giant pumpkins...stop and see our Meredith. She’s selling her lotions, potions, and soaps in the marketplace! Mere of All Trades 🤩

Still time to vote, head over to the Stillwater Harvest Fest page and give our Cousin Knit a like. Maybe we’ll win this year;)

If you just need to make a store pick up, feel free to call us in advance and we can run your pick up out to your car so you don’t even have to worry about parking:)

🎉✨ Happy Shopiversary to Beth! ✨🎉

Beth has been part of the Darn Knit family since 2018, and we’re so grateful for everything she brings to our team. She teaches nearly all of our online classes from home and keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes, managing class communication for students and teachers with care and calm. 💻🧶

Beth is steady, thoughtful, and unflappable. She is comfortable in the quiet moments when students are thinking (and counting stitches 😉). We’re so lucky to have her guiding and supporting our community every day.

🤩17 Years Young Today🤩
Ugh...the passing of time...

Our shop turns 17 years young today (that’s what you start saying when you start to get old)

It isn’t lost on me how amazing it is that we have been here 17 years.

We’ve all worked so hard and continue to work, so hard, to make sure this shop is everything WE want it to be. So that it can be everything YOU want it to be.

We are lucky, lucky, lucky.

Oh, and our tree is gone...

Our tree that my kids climbed, that my team yarn bombed for my 40th birthday, that we loved.

Was it dying? Define dying...

I’m hopeful that something lovely will arrive in it’s place soon:)
