What does the beginning of a design project actually look like?

The initial design phase is where we begin to uncover what a home needs to support the people living in it. We look closely at how spaces are used, what’s working, what isn’t, and where thoughtful changes can make everyday life feel a little easier.

From early sketches and moodboards to exploring materials and making selections in the showroom, each decision builds on the last. This stage gives us the opportunity to establish the overall direction, solve problems early, and create a cohesive plan for the home.

There’s so much to discover at this stage and this is where some of our most exciting work begins!

For our new project, we’re refreshing the home while keeping its relaxed character, with a focus on creating brighter, more inviting spaces and improving the overall flow and functionality.

A look at a project currently underway.

We’re reworking the entry, living, dining, kitchen/dining, family office, and primary bedroom of this new construction home, building on the existing architecture to create something softer, warmer, and more lived-in.

Alongside updating finishes and furnishings, we’re also addressing practical gaps in the layout like built-ins and lighting, so the home functions better for everyday living.

The skylight, designed by Craig Bosworth completely changes the feel of the space, bringing in beautiful natural light throughout the day, paired with soft blue accents that add a fresh feeling and connection to the coast.

We added custom cabinetry details to warm it up and layered in a few modern moments for a fun and a little unexpected twist 💙
