This week, we’re highlighting three of Somfy’s most popular Sonesse® motor options for small and narrow interior shades, including wired low-voltage DC and rechargeable WireFree solutions.

From the Sonesse® 30 24V DC to the Sonesse® ULTRA 30 WireFree and Sonesse® 40 WireFree, each option is designed around different project needs, power requirements, and lifting capacities.

Somfy’s smart shading ecosystem is also continuing to evolve with Zigbee® 3.0 technology, bringing newer connected capabilities while RTS products may still remain part of projects during the transition. Somfy describes Zigbee as an open connectivity standard designed to provide greater functionality and seamless integration within the smart home.

A good reminder that choosing the right motor is about more than size — it’s also about power, control technology, and the needs of the application.

These beautiful Fabricut Roman shades, sold by Sarah Coe Design, were retrofitted onsite by Motorized Window Treatments using Somfy ST40 RTS motors—adding motorized convenience while working with the existing window treatments.

The finished system is controlled with a 5-channel remote, allowing convenient control of the shades throughout the space.

At MWT, we specialize in motorization retrofits for existing window treatments, helping designers and dealers add motorization without starting over with an entirely new shade.

An exciting development in the world of smart-home connectivity!

Somfy announced that Bond, a U.S.-based smart-home connectivity platform, has joined the Somfy Group.

The alliance brings together Somfy’s experience in motorization and automation with Bond’s expertise in connectivity and interoperability, with the goal of making smart shading simpler, more accessible, and easier to integrate across different brands and technologies.

Bond will continue operating independently, maintaining its existing leadership and team while benefiting from Somfy’s global resources and long-term support.

An interesting development for the future of smart shading and connected-home solutions across North America!
