In step with the upcoming Bonsai workshop and Bonsai Bingo Social we chose the Variegated Schefflera as our Club Botanic Plant of the Month. The Dwarf Umbrella Tree is recognized for its glossy, hand-shaped (palmate) leaves splashed with cream, yellow and green.

This popular house plant can be enjoyed as a houseplant or trained into a beautiful bonsai. See our previous posts and links in bio for upcoming special Bonsai events.

Care:
☀️Thrives in bright, indirect light. Direct south-facing sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light will cause the creamy variegation to fade and growth to become thin.

💧Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feel dry. Allow excess water to drain completely; soggy soil leads to root rot and yellowing leaves.

💦🌡️Prefers average to high indoor humidity (great near a kitchen or bathroom) and temperatures between 60°F and 85°F.

Toxic to pets and humans. Ingestion can cause stomach upset, and contact with the sap can irritate skin and paws.

Botanic is open today, Sunday, from 12-4.
