Open-concept spaces can be a bit tricky to design. Without defined walls, it’s up to the furniture layout to create comfortable conversation areas, establish traffic flow, and make the room feel connected instead of scattered. On top of that, we were challenged with a corner fireplace to work around.
By maximizing seating, everyone has a comfortable place to gather—whether you’re watching a movie, hosting family for the holidays, or simply spending a quiet evening together. Just as importantly, the layout keeps the family room visually and socially connected to the kitchen and dining room, so conversations can continue naturally, even when someone is preparing dinner or setting the table.
When you understand how to work with a corner fireplace instead of fighting it, it becomes just one beautiful architectural feature rather than a design obstacle.
