All this because I wanted to put up a dinosaur switch cover. 🦕😂

Our toggle switch didn’t fit the cover, so this week’s Toolbox Tuesday is how we replaced it with a rocker. I’m walking through the tools and connections with close-ups so you can follow along.

Grey trying it at the end was my favorite part. 🤍

Always turn off power at the breaker and verify it’s off before touching wiring. Follow your exact switch’s instructions, and consult an electrician if you’re unsure.

Apparently painting the back door wasn’t enough for one weekend. 🍷😂

The paint was still in the fridge, the beams were right there, and suddenly 7:32 PM on a Sunday felt like the perfect time to start.

Anyone else find their project motivation right when it’s time to wind down?

Our Harry Potter cloud ceiling started with a twin flat sheet from Walmart. ✨

This was easier to make than I expected… although at one point, the Poly-Fil was sticking to my hands instead of the sheet 😂

A few things I learned:
☁️ Pull the fluff apart and flatten it before gluing.
☁️ Gorilla spray adhesive gave me more time to adjust it than the 3M we tried.
☁️ We used about half a 50-ounce bag of Poly-Fil. You can build up the clouds for a fuller look.

If you try it, follow your adhesive’s directions, check whether your LED lights can be covered, and use fasteners suitable for your ceiling and the weight.

I want my son to grow up remembering that home felt a little magical. ✨

Last year, that meant making a Harry Potter cloud ceiling—with floating candles, glowing lights, and the two of us figuring it out as we went.

Looking back at him looking up at it, I hope he remembers the magic. I know I’ll remember making it.

Next, I’ll share how we made the clouds so you can bring a little magic into your home, too.

Apparently “I’ll put this up when we move” meant over a year later. 🦕😂

This dinosaur switch plate came with us from our old house, and I finally gave it a spot in my son’s room. A little more personality, using something we already had.

I have plenty more projects sitting around waiting for “one day,” so let’s see what we can find next.

A glass carafe and an added lid jar keep our bathroom essentials within reach while making them feel like part of the room.

Sometimes adding character is just changing how you store the things you already use. 🌿
