A little reminder about shopping small. 🤍
Lately, we’ve heard the occasional comment that some things in our store are “expensive.”
And we get it. You can absolutely find cheaper things.
But cheaper and comparable aren’t always the same thing.
We’re not a big-box store. We don’t order 10,000 of the same item, negotiate mass-production pricing, or fill our shelves with products chosen by a corporate buying department.
What you’ll find here is different.
Small-batch goods. Handmade pieces. Vintage and antique finds. Original art. Artisan-made products. Quality furniture and home pieces. Things sourced in small quantities because we want our store—and your home—to feel collected, interesting and personal.
Behind so many of the price tags in a small shop is an actual person. An artist. A maker. A picker. A small business owner. Someone who spent hours hunting for that one incredible piece, refinishing it, creating it, transporting it, displaying it and hoping the right person walks through the door and loves it.
Could you find something that looks similar somewhere else for less? Sometimes.
But that doesn’t necessarily make it the same.
We’ve never wanted District V House to compete with mass-produced retail on price. We want to offer something mass-produced retail can’t: character, quality, individuality and the thrill of finding something you won’t see everywhere else.
And the best part about a collective like ours? There are pieces at all different price points. You might leave with a $12 treasure, a handmade gift, a 100-year-old antique or the piece of furniture you keep forever.
Shopping small isn’t always about finding the cheapest option.
