Happy World Sandwich Day! 🥪
What better way to celebrate than with a delightful Fried Chicken Sandwich for lunch 🐔👌🏼
Crispy, juicy, at-home Fried Chicken Sandwiches are easier than you think! By adding buttermilk and baking powder to the flour mixture you will get that extra crispy chicken that you would expect to get from a restaurant 👌🏼🤤
This is the recipe I use, it’s a go to for us because it’s super simple and delicious 🤗
Chicken Sandwich:
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (8 oz. each)
1 cup buttermilk
½ tsp salt
2 cups vegetable oil
4 Brioche buns, toasted
Breading:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp buttermilk
•Lightly pound chicken until it’s about ½ inch thick.
•Soak chicken in buttermilk and salt mixture for 1 hr
•Combine breading mixture, adding the buttermilk last
•Bread chicken - Keep tossing in mixture until a thick crust forms
•Pan fry in a cast iron skillet on medium heat (350°) covered for 5 minutes
•Flip chicken, cook for another 5-6 minutes uncovered, until the chicken is crispy and golden brown. Make sure chicken reaches internal temp of 165°
We make a chipotle mayonnaise for ours 🌶
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Chipotle chili powder to taste
