It's fascinating to see whom amongst my clothing-wearers are also hip to the new helen painting experience. This little gem went home with long-time SL clothing collector Linda Lowen of Always Wanted To Write yesterday - and since she's a writer she always describes my work to me in ways that spin my world around and give me fresh perspectives that feed my artist soul. It rises above 'shopping' and ends up feeling like a collaboration. I'm grateful. 💛💛💛

Hey Friends Of Secret Lentil, I’m ebbing, flowing, pulsing over here like the quirky artist/human I am instead of being a good clamped-down consistent capitalist. Again. OOPS. ha ha ha. Changes, plural, are in the works.

I’m all hepped up about the fresh phase I’m about to unfurl, but over at the ensh*ttification end of things, these platforms are busy building barriers to us staying connected. This one we are on at the moment (dare we speak its name?) will only let me share 2 links per month now. After that I’d have to pay to include links — for something that’s free all over the internet. You may have heard this from other makers you adore; it’s being rolled out to everyone with a business page.

Would you consider signing up for my emails, if you haven’t already? I’m not a relentless sender. People say they like hearing from me. It's my 18th anniversary of getting a studio at the Delavan — I remember because I signed my first lease in October 2008 and thought, oh sure, why would a little financial collapse stop me? 😜

And this space is my 4th studio within it! I think I'll keep this one for a long time. I'm super grateful for this quirky hulking mass of a building and the weird wonderful humans who make art in it, as well as those who take care of it so we can do that.

I'll be shipping orders out today then seeing what it's like to paint in there, then sewing some dresses for you at home over the weekend. Good stuff. I haven't made the smartest decisions with my life but I have made the best ones. Thanks for being here with me. — helen
