💐 Summer may be over….

🎄 But don’t be sad, because that means the holidays are around the bend! I’m enjoying the last of my summer garden harvest and late season blooms. I’m lingering in the moment as much as possible before my side hustle busy season picks up steam.

🌞 I also recently had the joy of meeting a new friend Kyla, with Kyla Price. Her business model for bloom bars is made possible by mutual aid arrangements whereby she finds community members with extra garden plots to grow her flower inventory. She came by my house this week and we had so much fun chatting and talking about possibilities to partner with my garden space.

🌿 She also reminded me I had so much bounty to enjoy in my garden and I should be finding all the ways I can to appreciate nature’s beauty. So that inspired me to make this fall arrangement from my dahlias, zinnias, nasturtium, and aromatics!

🫶Savor the moment and the season you’re in, whatever that looks like!

Restaurant Lola always delivers a delicious meal and fabulous drinks! But I always enjoy the floral installations just as much as the food. 🎀 Hello Dolly Holiday friends! I’ve missed you. I’ve been busying enjoying the summer and preparing for my most epic party ever because…. lordy lordy Gracie turned FORTY! 4️⃣0️⃣🥳

🎠 I made this carousel horse from an old bouncy horse toy. This was a real labor of love to build a stand, mount it level on the post, figure out the right paint medium and techniques, and capture all the small textures and details with teeny tiny paintbrushes. This took me and a friend hours of iterating, ideating, and creating.

🎨 I did quite a number of super fun DIY projects for this birthday party and I’ll be posting more soon. I wish I had taken more process photos and videos to bring you along, but I’ve been really enjoying living in the moment, and not having to memorialize every little thing I do. Free yourself from the screen and pick up a paintbrush my beauties!

✨ Every year I meet new customers who love my products! I’m grateful for each and every person who supports me with purchases, positive feedback, or friends who make the trip just to visit my booth display and say hello! 👋

☺️But every year, Taire, a new friend I’ve met through this business shows up consistently to support Dolly Holiday! This year she wanted to attend my wreath workshop but couldn’t make the time work. So she asked for a custom wreath kit to make something one of a kind at home. I was thrilled to make a kit for my best and loyal customer!

So thank you for all your support and care over the years. You have no idea how much it means to me to have your business! 🙏 😊 I think more craft kits are in my future, this was a great opportunity to experiment!

🐿️ 💖 The Tale of the Christmas Vandals ✨

🎄It was Christmastime circa 2011. Every room in the house had a different theme. Country Christmas, Candy Christmas, Intergalactic Christmas, and so on. The house was overflowing with holiday cheer we just had to decorate the outside to match.

🎁 We had a live tree on the front porch and a waterfall of blue lights with reinderers grazing at the light up puddle at the base of the waterfall. We had a bounty of vases up and down the steps with tea light candles inside, full of gilded walnuts. It was a magical and unforgettable Christmas. That is until…..

🧐 One day, I came home front work and our beautiful Christmas display had been vandalized!!!! All the vases had been tipped over and some were smashed. I felt SO violated. We got GOT by some neighborhood Scrooge. But then I saw it…

“Ya know what the weird part is auntie…all the walnuts are gone….”
“🤨”

“🤔”

…
…
“…SQUIRRELS!!!!!” *shakes fists at the heavens*

🪦 🐿️ And that was the year we poisoned some poor enterprising precious little squirrel family. But I like to imagine that at least for a little while…they had the biggest magical golden cache of glorious toxic coated nuts a squirrel could ever dream of. 🤩

🍄This lovely oddball centerpiece is inspired by my fond Christmas memory. When I found this squirrel planter I just knew I had to do something with it to honor this historic event from days of yore. I hope she finds a good home this weekend at the !
