🚂 If you grew up anywhere around here, chances are good you stood in front of this very locomotive on a school field trip and had a teacher tell you the whole wild story. This is The General, and back in April of 1862 it got stolen right off the tracks at Big Shanty, which is Kennesaw today.

A group of Union raiders grabbed her while the crew was eating breakfast and took off north, cutting telegraph wires and pulling up track as they went. The conductor and a handful of men chased them down on foot, then by handcar, then on other engines, for about 87 miles before they finally ran her out of steam near Ringgold. They call it the Great Locomotive Chase. 🛤️

These days The General sits polished up and proud at the Southern Museum in Kennesaw, all that black iron and shining brass, and she still stops kids in their tracks the same way she did fifty years ago. Some stories just get better every time you hear them.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT 🎉🎉
FARMSTAND GIVEAWAY…..literally giving away my old farm stand. 

✋🏻BUT ya’ll do not worry, the Farmstand will continue operating like normal until the new stand is built and ready for us, and then we will move over to the new stand

I have been thinking about ways that I can reuse my old Farmstand with the NEW bigger farmstand, and sure I could use it for a pre-order spot, but isn’t that what a bigger stand will be for. Then last Sunday in church it was almost like God tapped me on the shoulder and I knew exactly what to do with my old stand. So as we grow, I’m excited to pass this little blessing along to someone that otherwise may not have the ability to pursue this little dream.

Here’s how I am going to do this:

❤️Please share this post or tag someone you know who wants to start a Farmstand but maybe doesn’t have the ability or resources to build one. (Cannot be within the 30540 zip code)

❤️Write us an email at [email protected] on your why, and what has kept you from starting a stand.

❤️My daughter is going to read through these emails with me, and select a winner. This will be announced on 12/1.

( We are planning to have the new Farmstand up and running before Christmas so that gives us time to prepare and for the new owner to make transportation arrangements) 🎄❤️

** You must be able to pick up the stand and transport it back to your location** We can assist with loading with a skid steer.. some items will not come with the stand (solar panels, etc) but that will be discussed with the winner!**

We had such a FABULOUS TIME at Talking Rock Heritage Days Festival. Meeting new folks and seeing how our community is growing and how many great vendors were a part of the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing more of their products in Town of Talking Rock.
