Over two years ago, I had the opportunity to work with the owners to help visualize their vision for . One of the concepts we explored was a bold black exterior, which we used to help present ideas and possibilities to the city during the approval process.

Does everything translate from the original design? No. And that’s okay.

One of the greatest benefits of 3D renderings is the ability to explore ideas before construction begins. They allow clients, designers, and decision-makers to see what’s possible, evaluate options, and make informed decisions long before work begins.

Not every concept makes it to the finish line, but every concept helps move the project forward. That’s the beauty of the design process.

Good design isn’t just about selecting beautiful finishes. It’s also about designing for the space itself.

With ceilings this tall and a kitchen this long, scale became one of the most important parts of the design process. The original finishes felt visually small against the volume of the room, so the redesign focused on creating balance through larger features, stronger contrast, and intentional vertical lines to help the space feel grounded and cohesive.

Scale is one of the most important principles of design, especially in a space like this where proportion can completely change the way a room feels.
