Being an interior designer is officially my personality trait at this point. 😂

I started thinking about all the slightly unhinged things I do that seem perfectly normal to me… but probably questionable to everyone else.

So here are 5 of them! And trust me, my perimenopausal brain could’ve kept going. 😂

01. Bully my clients into luxury….Respectfully.
Sometimes people don’t know what they don’t know! I introduce them to materials, finishes, and design possibilities they never considered. It’s not always about spending more. It’s about exposing them to what they really want.

02. Go off over the wrong shade of white.
Cheviot and Snowbound are ABSOLUTELY NOT the same! Undertones matter. Warmth matters. And YES, I can see the difference! 😂

03. Dissect every hotel I walk into.
I’m supposed to be relaxing, but I’m analyzing the floor plan, lighting, furniture placement, ceiling details, and millwork. My husband thinks we’re on vacation. Nope Sir, I’m conducting an unpaid site visit.

04. Touch absolutely EVERYTHING.
Stone slabs, fabrics, cabinetry, wall finishes. If it has texture, my hands are going on it. It’s called material research!

05. Rearrange furniture in my head.
You invited me over for dinner & drinks… please know I already moved your sofa, replaced your rug, and figured out why your living room isn’t flowing. I’m sorry 😞

The creative mind is a blessing, a curse, and occasionally a very expensive obsession.

Designers, what’s your most unhinged habit? And homeowners… have you experienced any of these with your designer? 👀

What an honor to present at ASID GATHER in Dallas on behalf of the Business Management Committee. 🤍

One of my favorite parts was connecting with so many talented interior designers and industry professionals who are building, growing, and starting their businesses.

Our committee has poured so much real world knowledge into the Business Basics Checklist by sharing lessons many of us had to learn the hard way so others don’t have to.

And honestly, I walked away learning too. That’s the beauty of community. We get to share, grow, and support one another along the way.

So grateful for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and represent this committee. ✨

An invitation to sit among 100 women helping shape the future of the kitchen & bath industry isn’t something I take lightly.

Tomorrow kicks off the NKBA | KBIS Women to Women Leadership Conference here in New Orleans. Three days surrounded by women… product industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and designers whose work and leadership have helped move our industry forward.

And can I be transparent for a second?

Walking into this experience, my first feeling was excitement. Then that little voice asking, “Do I really belong in this room?”

Thankfully, I have a business coach and an incredible circle of designers who reminded me of something I needed to hear:

A seat earned is a seat deserved.

That’s the beauty of community. The right people don’t just celebrate your growth, they remind you of who you are when you’re still catching up to where your hard work has taken you.

So this week, I’m walking into the room ready to listen, learn, connect, share and GROW.

And the best part? Everything I learn here comes back home with me into id Designs & Co., into the way we lead our projects, and ultimately into the homes and experiences we create for our clients throughout Tampa Bay.

Here’s to all of us business owners who have ever questioned whether we belong in the rooms we worked so hard to reach.

You Belong Here.💕

Choosing materials and textiles is about so much more than making a home aesthetically pleasing.

I consider how my clients actually live in their homes. Their routines, their hobbies, their families, and the way each space needs to perform day after day.

Will this fabric hold up to everyday use? Is the material appropriate for how the room functions? How will it wear over time? Will it still feel beautiful years from now?

For me, good design isn’t simply about choosing what looks beautiful. It’s about selecting materials with intention while balancing beauty, performance, comfort, and longevity to create a home that truly supports the people living in it.

✨ 3 Things Renovating My Own Home Taught Me — And Why It Makes Me Better For My Clients 🤍

Designing and renovating your own home is humbling 🥹.

It’s exciting, exhausting, emotional, expensive if done wrong… and honestly, it’s made me a much more intentional designer for my clients because I’ve truly been in their shoes.

1️⃣ Don’t rush just to “get it done”
When we first started renovating, I wanted everything done fast. Contractors weren’t always available, timelines felt long, and certain upgrades felt expensive at the time. So sometimes we settled.

Now that we actually live in those spaces? I’m spending more updating what I should’ve been patient enough to do correctly the first time.

Good design takes thought, functionality, intention, and proper ex*****on. Rushing limits your space’s true potential.

2️⃣ Materials matter
My husband and I say this to each other all the time 😂 You cannot go cheap on everything.

Yes, your investment matters, of course. Why? Investing in quality materials/furnishings — especially in kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and high-traffic spaces makes a huge difference in longevity and daily living.

And beyond aesthetics, I care deeply about materials that support wellness, sustainability, and healthier living too.

3️⃣ Make the space yours
Pinterest inspiration is beautiful. Trends are fun. Luxury looks amazing online.

But at the end of the day… you have to live there. Your family has to function there.

So ask yourself:
Can we realistically live this way?
Does this support our lifestyle?
Does this actually feel like us?

The best spaces aren’t just beautiful…they’re personal, intentional, and livable

So if your thinking about renovating or refreshing your own space…when you’re ready to explore what intentional, functional design could look like for your home, let’s connect 🤍

Book a discovery call and let’s bring your vision to life — thoughtfully, beautifully, and with longevity in mind.

5 Reasons We Love a Stair Runner

Funny story… I’ve definitely fallen up AND down these stairs while working on this project 😅 So trust me when I say this stair runner was needed lol.

Here’s why I love them:

• Added safety + grip
• Softens sound throughout the home
• Protects hardwood stairs from wear
• Adds warmth + texture
• Instantly elevates the overall design

Designer tip: Stair runners are one of those details that blend function, comfort, and style beautifully — especially in busy family homes.

And honestly… my knees appreciate it too 😂✨

May is Small Business Month. It’s also Mental Health Awareness Month.

And honestly, I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

I wrote this for all of us but truthfully, I needed the reminder too. Sometimes you end up writing the letter you wish someone had sent you.

If you’re just starting out, feeling stuck, or quietly wondering if the struggle means you’re doing something wrong… it doesn’t.

Building something meaningful is hard. Growing takes time.

And most people are carrying more than they let others see.

So if nobody’s told you lately: you’re doing a great job. Keep going. 🤍

I have a feeling some of you needed to hear that this month.

Full letter 👇🏾 read it when you have a quiet moment. It’s for you.

✨ Week 5 ORC - Update… yes, we skipped 😅 ✨

We jumped from week 3 to week 5 because honestly… nothing was happening week 4 and I needed a little renovation break 🤍

But we’re back at it — flooring is down and now we’re moving on to the walls 👀

Next up:
• Tiling the shower walls
• Replacing that 1960’s old crusty window (long overdue 😭)
• Then sanding + painting the ceiling and walls

And yes… I’m still slacking on sourcing the shower doors, but I’ll get there 😝

Alright, enjoy week 5 — let’s see what week 6 brings ✨
