The kitchen is where everyone ends up, so we plan it that way from the start. A generous island with seating on the living room side, a walk-in pantry to keep counters clear, and appliances tucked into cabinetry so the room feels calm even when it's busy. The best kitchens aren't just beautiful, they handle a full house on a Sunday morning without missing a beat.

One trend we keep seeing in residential design is flexibility. Homes are being planned for more than one phase of life: a first floor suite for aging parents or guests, a home office that can become a nursery, a bonus room that works as a gym today and a media room later. Designing that adaptability in from the start is far easier than renovating for it down the road.

Good design plans for how a family will change, not just how it lives today.

Fall is when Florida outdoor living really shines. The humidity drops, the evenings cool off, and the patio becomes the best room in the house. That's why we're seeing so many clients ask for fire features, covered lanais with ceiling fans and heaters, and outdoor kitchens placed close to the main living space. The goal is a backyard that feels like a true extension of the home, and one that gets used well past summer.

Good dining spaces start with good light. In this home, a wide bank of windows pulls in daylight and frames the greenery outside, so every meal feels connected to the landscape. A warm walnut table, textured boucle seating, and a sculptural brass pendant bring mid-century character while keeping the room relaxed and inviting.

As the architects, we plan for moments like this from the start, placing windows and sightlines so a room feels as good at dinner as it does at noon.

Windows might look like a simple design decision, but there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

For this custom home, every window is carefully considered for placement, proportion, orientation, interior sightlines, exterior elevations, and even the future landscaping outside.

It’s all about making sure the interior and exterior work together as one cohesive design. These are the details that happen early in the architectural process and make a big difference once the home begins to take shape.

When you build a custom home, you get to build in the things you actually love, even if that means a private putting green in the backyard.

This home blends a lap pool, a raised spa, and a putting green with plenty of lounge space in between, all wrapped in lush landscaping for total privacy. It's proof that custom design isn't just about the house itself, it's about designing the whole lifestyle around it.

Thinking about a renovation or new build? A few things worth knowing before you start.

Site selection and feasibility come first, before any design work begins. Understanding zoning, environmental factors, and site constraints upfront saves you from redesigns down the road. Permitting also takes longer than most people expect, so building in extra time at the start keeps your whole timeline realistic. And the earlier you bring in an architect, even before you've nailed down every detail, the more room there is to catch issues while they're still easy (and cheap) to fix.

The best projects usually start with a conversation, not a set of finished plans.

Every healthcare project starts with a question most people never think about: how does staff need to move through this space during a 12 hour shift? We plan sightlines from nursing stations, keep supply and exam rooms within easy reach, and reduce unnecessary walking distance wherever we can. It sounds small, but it adds up to less staff fatigue and faster patient care.

None of that shows up in a photo, but it's often the difference between a healthcare space that works and one that just looks nice.

Public and civic buildings carry a different kind of weight. We partner with government agencies to design spaces that are safe, sustainable, and built to serve entire communities for generations, not just a single client.

That means designing for durability first: materials and systems that can handle decades of heavy public use, layouts that stay accessible and functional as a community's needs change, and safety considerations that go well beyond a standard building code checklist. A library, a community center, or a municipal building gets used by thousands of people who never meet the architect, so it has to work for all of them.

It's a different kind of responsibility, and one we take seriously on every civic project.

Sustainable design isn't an afterthought for us, it's built into every project from day one.

That looks like a lot of things behind the scenes: material choices that hold up to Florida's climate without constant upkeep, window placement and overhangs that cut down on cooling costs before a single solar panel gets added, and energy-efficient systems planned into the layout instead of bolted on at the end. Small decisions early on add up to a home or building that costs less to run for decades.

It's proof that sustainable doesn't have to mean a design compromise.
