Well, I’m not very good at this social media thing. I believe it’s been nearly a year since we’ve posted anything. So here a few pics of a handful of projects we’ve done over the last year. I promise I’ll get better at posting.

Finished installing this unique entertainment unit today. The design was the client’s idea. We helped to tweak textures and overlays. It’s hard to see in the pics, but the dark portion on the left of the unit is actually cork that has been applied to the substrate and painted. It added a really neat effect next to the textured laminate portion on the right. A subwoofer is housed in the bottom of the left tower (you can see the outline of the speaker grille through the cork). Under the horizontal portion on the left is a drop-down meant to house the power strip, router, and remote controls. We really enjoy the collaborative projects!

One of the coolest projects we’ve done. Gloss black headboard, bed frame, and wall feature with satin walnut accents. Plus a desk with walnut drawer fronts, brass legs, and floating shelves. We love how the wall feature and bed are lit up with led’s (dimmable).

I like to spray these gloss black finishes on the weekend after all of the dust in the shop has settled. It sucks when you’ve applied a perfect finish and a white spec of dust falls right into the middle of it.

One of the more challenging projects we’ve had recently. A living room entertainment unit wrapped in Mapa Burl. Each sheet of burl veneer is unique. Very careful attention was paid to laying out the burl so that the features of each sheet would flow together to create a consistent pattern. All together 13 sheets of burl veneer were used with only small strips left over. Three weeks to veneer. Would we do it again? Yup!

Our favorite things to design and build are those that stray from conventional norms and tradition. This project, done for a local doctor, is one of those projects. We worked closely with the client to understand his vision and create a design that embraced that vision. We used a combination of walnut, rift sawn oak, and brass. The oak desk top and doors were burned and charred to achieve a natural black and enhance the flow of the grain. The doors were then trimmed with brass flat bar too really make them pop. The desk facade was a unique challenge that we had a great time with. A lot of creativity and artistry went into this project and we’re glad to have had the opportunity to do it.
