Masoor Daal
2 cups masoor daal (split red lentils)
6 cups hot water
Neutral oil
1 onion diced
2 tablespoons garlic paste
2 tablespoons ginger paste
3 tomatoes diced
2-3 green chilies diced
Spices:
1 tablespoon Daal masala (substitute with 2 teaspoons turmeric and add an extra 1/2 tablespoon of garam masala)
1 tablespoon garam masala
1 tablespoon coriander powder
1/2 tablespoon cumin powder
1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chili powder
2 tsp salt or to taste
Chopped cilantro or kasoori methi and squeeze of lemon to finish
