Meet one of the hands behind the craft, Jay Rodriguez. Every project is a team effort, and we’re lucky to have some of the best working together to bring our client’s visions to life!

“After retiring from the Army, I decided to pursue a career in carpentry as I have always enjoyed working with my hands. I enrolled in Erwin Technicals carpentry program. When we entered the stair building module I designed and build my first self supporting curved staircase as my class project. I quickly realized I enjoyed stair building. Shortly after completing my project, Erwin partnered with Bast Flooring and Staircases. Upon graduating I applied and was hired by bast in 2023.

I really enjoy working here at Bast. In the past 2 years I have been working alongside some of the best stair builders in Florida. They have all been eager to teach and I have learned a lot from them in the past two years. Apart from the stair building department, everyone at Bast, from the mill shop to sand and finish, have been very helpful and easy to work with. Here at Bast I feel like I’m a part of a highly skilled team who are not only eager to teach but will also hear out my opinions and suggestions even though I’m new to the company and industry.”

Big things are happening in the warehouse! 👏 We just added a CNC machine to our lineup, which means even more precision, customization and efficiency for our projects. 🛠️

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control, and this machine allows us to cut, carve and shape materials like wood and metal with incredible accuracy using computer-aided designs.

It all starts with a solid frame. Crafted with precision, experience and a whole lot of sawdust!

What you’re seeing here is the early stage of a custom curved staircase being shaped in our shop. Every bend and angle is carefully planned and constructed by hand before it ever reaches the job site.
