“Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.” - Emily Brontë 🍂

Living in New England, we never take our foliage for granted, and right now we’re beginning to see our peak colors. Most people know our fall for its bright yellows, oranges, and reds, but the oaks turn late and hang on longer. Long after the maples have let go, they’re still holding their leaves in w**e red, russet, carmine, maroon, and a deep, rusty burgundy, finishing the season in copper and brown. It’s a subtler kind of color, the last warmth of the year before we slip into winter.

This suite features a New England countryside vista at golden hour, wrapping across an A7 Signature Pocket in White- flood printed inside and out. At the heart of the palatte is Claret, somewhere between merlot and that late-oak burgundy, on the Oval Mat, details card, and A7.5 Euro Flap Envelope. A gold wax seal and the Harvest order of events pick up the last of the golds still hanging in the trees, and full color printing lets the russets, rusts, and browns peek out around the stacked inserts. Cream Puff stock and white ink addresses keep things light against all of the depth.

Rich, grounded, and a little romantic, this combination is a natural fit for fall weddings, vineyard celebrations, and anyone drawn to old-world charm.

Shown: printed envelope, envelope liner, printed Signature Pocket, oval mat, invitation, details card, order of events, RSVP card.

Check out this fun palette we have to share with you today- bold and soft all at once 🤍

Dusty Rose and deep Forest lean a bit earthy, while a bright Chartreuse brings some s***k- each stands so differently on its own, but Opal gathers them all into one family. Our shimmery off-white is laser cut into the oval invitation, the central piece of the suite, giving every bolder color around it a clean, luminous backdrop to play against.

We really love the contrast between the soft Dusty Rose envelope (with a white ink return address! yeee!) and the rich Forest liner- it’s a little unexpected, in the best way. Chartreuse keeps things bright on the details card and RSVP envelope, alongside a Forest RSVP card. And flip the invitation over to find Forest stripes printed across the back, adding a touch of movement while pulling everything together.

Every paper here is available to order, so if this palette sparks an idea, you’ll find all four colors (and so many more!) through the link in our bio.

Shown: invitation (front and back), details card, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, printed A7 envelope, envelope liner.

• Dusty Rose A7 envelope, white ink return address
• Forest A7 envelope liner

Have you seen tunnel books yet? Layers of artwork and intricate cutouts stack together into one telescoping scene. It feels like peeking into a secret garden or through a keyhole into a hidden room.

We made our own using the traditional structure, with two shortcuts: laser cutting instead of hours with an X-ACTO knife, and our slitting and scoring machine for the accordion-folded sides. Hand-cut tunnel books are a true labor of love, and we have so much respect for the artists who make them that way 💕

Made one already? Tag us or send a DM, we’d love to see it! If one is on your someday list, tell us what scene you’d build 🖼️ Maybe we can help bring it to life.

Autumn looks a little different in Savannah! October there still runs warm (thank you, details card 😉), so this fall wedding suite takes its palette from the city rather than the season. 🍃

It all begins with Moss, pulled from the live oaks and the Spanish moss that drapes over them, laser cut into a canopy of branches that frames everything beneath it. Through the leaves, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist rises spires and all- the building’s white stucco taking on a warm glow in Coral- while the Forsyth Park fountain splashes in Azure Blue just in front. Around town the two sit a short walk apart, but here they share one sweet little view.

Look a little closer and you’ll find each paper printed in a darker ink from its own color family- deep green across the Moss, w**e red on the Coral, and navy on the Azure Blue- helping each illustration come alive. Tucked behind it all is Vellum White, the invitation itself, with the couple’s names in script peeking out between the spires. The envelopes come printed with the return address, too- one more thing checked off the list!

Shown: laser cut folder, invitation, cathedral details card, fountain RSVP card, printed envelope.

This week we’re excited to be featuring another beautiful design by none other than Kristin at Kristin Joiner.

Envelope liners are a chance to get creative with some bonus canvas, and here we see all that vertical space put to full advantage. This couple was married at St. Monica St. George, and Kristin’s hand-drawn church rises up tall, with the cross landing right in the point of the flap. The church served as Cincinnati’s cathedral for nearly twenty years and is known for its spectacular rose window that spans 17 feet 😮 Her use of color makes the stained glass the star.

The reply card adds a pop of gold, all wrapped up in our Ebony Black Signature pocket invitation and finished with the loveliest wax seal.

Bess Paper Goods & Gifts is named for Bess, the 1882 Pearl Old Style letterpress Kristin found secondhand and spent a summer cleaning and repairing. Her Reading Bridal District storefront holds the press alongside a paper flower studio, an invitation consultation area, a classroom, and a retail floor stocked with things she makes by hand.

If you’re near Cincinnati, 321 W. Benson Street is worth a stop- letterpress stationery, handmade gifts, and bridal party classes if you’d rather make your own. More at Kristin Joiner and besspapergoods.com

in 2004 when this business was birthed, after the birth of my daughter, i dreamed of someday working out of a restored mill building. my first exposure to an old mill was working with one of our first partners, Elias at EM Letterpress who operated out of a beautiful old mill space in downtown New Bedford. it was love at first sight.

today, after 20 years, we are operating out of an old lumber mill in downtown Taunton on Mill River. covid wasn't the kindest to us, (or anyone), but it did force a very difficult move out of our then 30,000 square foot industrial building (i call it "the Exodus") and led to the great blessing of transforming (with a lot of love, sweat and tears) this old mill into our new home and a place we love.

sometimes dreams come late, but dreams do come. -bp

We put all of our love into this suite, which was made for a dear friend- the best possible reason to get every detail right. 💚

Each invitation was painstakingly hand-torn for the softest, most romantic edges, and we added a sheer frayed ribbon to complement just so. Layered over is a laser cut details card (with white ink! 🤍), cut to follow the flow of the floral border- and a smooth oval monogram set on top echoes the shape beneath it while giving some added depth.

We wish you could hold these pieces in your hands! If you ran a finger over the monogram, you would feel the script raised from the background. The dark olive ink was flood printed with the A and the T knocked out, so everything but the letters was pressed down- an effect akin to embossing. And the tags weren’t the only thing that went through the press: it’s all ready to send off in an envelope with a letterpressed return address and an extra-special letterpressed liner.

We don’t use the word exquisite that often- but it seems the just-right word to describe this place setting.

Old Rose is romantic and poised, and here it’s a perfect bridge between the modern and the stately Edwardian. Passementerie- tassels adorning dance cards, menus, and programs- has a long history. They hung on drawing room curtains against intricate wallpapers, and they’ve been finishing paper for just as long.

You have to see and touch this floral toile pattern printed on vellum with its soft curved edges- it’s really just stunning. The Old Rose underneath shows through the pattern just the right amount, and the tall clean table numbers in the same stock balance out the decorative detail.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the loveliness of hand-painted tiles? Their old-world charm translates beautifully into an invitation suite. 🍊

A quick little lesson that you didn’t ask for (because they are just so special that we should all know): tin-glazed tile has been painted the same way for centuries. The otherwise reddish clay gets fired once to harden it, then dipped in a tin glaze that dries to a flat, chalky white- a canvas to paint on. Painters work straight onto that surface in intricate patterns with metal oxides- only a few minerals survive the heat, which is where that particular quality of color comes from. Copper gives the greens and turquoises, iron the oranges, antimony the golds, and cobalt the deep classic blue that we associate with these tiles. So much work goes into each individual piece.

This suite featuring a central floral motif was designed with a Tuscan palette for a destination wedding in Italy. The fizz, citrine, and turquoise hued inks sit against Soft Coral and Pistachio, pale colors that give the suite a soft, organic feel.

These Citrine envelopes were printed with our variable data printing- all ready to stamp and send!

Shown: invitation, details card, scalloped schedule card, accommodations and travel card, laser cut medallion, printed envelope liner, printed envelopes.
