One thing we want to make clear about JW Woodcraft:

We don’t have to agree with a flag to build it.

Our personal opinions, political views, beliefs, or feelings about a particular design don’t determine whether we’re willing to take on a project. We’re craftsmen. Our job is to take your idea, turn it into a design, and create it with the same attention to detail we give every other piece.

American flag? Absolutely.
Military flag? Absolutely.
Sports flag? Absolutely.
Political flag? Yep.
Something deeply personal or meaningful to you? That’s what custom work is all about.

You don’t hire a woodworker because you need them to share your opinions. You hire them because you want something made well.

That said, there are a few lines we won’t cross. We reserve the right to decline designs containing N**i or other explicitly hateful/extremist symbols, or imagery intended to promote hatred or violence toward a protected group.

Outside of those boundaries, we’re not here to police what your flag means to you.

Bring us your idea. We’ll bring the woodworking. 🪵🇺🇸

As I begin to wind up another project, I find myself in the shop. Alone, hot, proud, and with no music playing so I have the time to reflect and be at one with my thoughts. A lesson that I work very hard to instill in my son every day finds its way forward in my mind. “Not knowing how is not a reason to not try, but an excuse.” I did not know how to manipulate wood the way I do until I tried, and I learn more EVERY single time I work on a project. I didn’t know how to walk, until I did. I did not know how to speak, until I did. Continue to grow, and never use lack of knowledge as an EXCUSE to not better yourself.

One question we get pretty often is why our prices don’t match the “mass-produced” flags you see online.

The answer is simple: every piece we build is handcrafted from start to finish.

We don’t use CNC machines to cut, carve, or automate the process. Every wave is shaped by hand, every board is selected individually, and every flag is built one project at a time. That means we’re focused on quality and craftsmanship rather than volume.

Large shops can produce multiple flags at the same time using automated equipment, which allows them to spread costs across dozens of pieces and offer lower prices. We simply can’t, and honestly, that’s not what we’re trying to be.

Each flag is quoted based on its size, design, wood selection, engraving, and level of detail. No two projects are exactly alike, and that’s what makes each one unique.

When you purchase from JW Woodcraft, you’re not buying something pulled from a warehouse shelf. You’re investing in a handcrafted piece made with time, care, and attention to every detail.
