Sometimes mistakes happen when you least expect it. That's what happened to me the other day while trying to put the final touches on this cutting board. Not really sure if this is just exceptionally hard maple or perhaps my bit is getting dull. Long story short,my router had its own plan and I thought this cutting board was scrap.
After several hours of thinking, I decided to try and salvage it by changing the design. I only had to sacrifice 3/4 of an inch and pretty happy with the results.
Since this board is for us, I've decided to skip the juice groove after my mishap.

I don’t post on here as much as I should. The woodworking and custom gift business is tough.
The most popular thing I’ve done that most people love are carpenter bee traps.
I started making these 3 years ago just for myself. Several friends saw them and how effective they where. After a couple friends asked me if I could make them some, I decided, why not just make a bunch.
That’s exactly what I did last year. I sold over 300. People driving over an hour to buy them from me. It was really hard to believe. Something so simple that people wanted.
Each one is made form 100% new materials top to bottom. I’ve even managed to get our son involved in some of the production process.

We have sold 70 so far this year and I just finished up 90 more.
I don’t have any intention on stopping until mid July when they seem to disappear around here.
