“FOCUSED”

A lot of the time I find myself focusing on just one thing, as if I am an animal seeking out prey. Keeping my mind, body, heart and soul invested in this one thing and letting the rest of the world fall away. Getting obsessed over things I cannot control. This piece reminds me that there is a lot more to the world. A lot more good, a lot more joy, and a lot more peace. I just have to broaden my perspective and stop being so laser focused on one single thing.

“SUNLIGHT OF THE SPIRIT”

As long as I can remember I have had a stomach ache. It often felt like all the anger, resentment, anxiety and self loathing gathered there. Which is why you can see a dark cloud in my belly. I also felt hallow and almost invisible as is shown in my translucent figure. One day, I decided I was done holding on to all of that garbage and I was ready to let it go and give it over to a Power greater than myself. Being on my knees represents humility and desperation and a willingness to let things go that have been holding me there in the darkness and causing me so much pain. The white light represents the help I received from a Higher Power allowing me to let these things go. The ravens represent the darkness leaving my body and being released into the light changing them into doves. If you notice, the birds are turning brighter as they get closer to the light and my face is content and peaceful. I no longer hold onto all that darkness and I allow myself to heal and find peace.

Happy Friday! 🙌 Here's one that has been popular on my website this week...

“ANXIOUS”

Anxiety has been a part of my life since the age of 12. Back then it wasn't spoken about. Mental health was full of stigma and shame. I often felt alone and scared in a room filled with people. On the outside I seemed fine but on the inside, I felt like I was fighting for my life, fighting for my sanity. Seemingly in vain. Even the most magnificent creatures get scared and have to live in fight or flight. There is nothing wrong with anxiety when it is fleeting, but when it starts to debilitate your joy it feels paralyzing that is when we need to reach out and say, “I’m not ok.” Its OK not to be OK sometimes. We don’t have to do it alone. You are loved.
