What are NFC tags?

NFC Tag (Near Field Communication Tag):
A small, wireless chip that stores information and can be scanned using a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device.

NFC tags can help parents stay organized, connected, and give kids a bit of independence—safely. Here are a few smart ways they can be used:

• Emergency Info: Tap the tag to instantly pull up your child’s emergency contact, allergy info, or medical details—great for backpacks, lunchboxes, or keychains.
• Lost & Found: Place an NFC tag on your child’s belongings (like backpacks or jackets). If lost, a good Samaritan can tap the tag and see your contact info (no app needed).
• Quick Instructions: Babysitters or teachers can tap to access important notes—like nap schedules, feeding routines, or pick-up times.
• Check-in Links: Older kids can use a tag to quickly check in at home, daycare, or a trusted location by tapping it with their phone.

Each of the little backpacks have a chip in them! The chip is programmable using a app (iPhone and android). Once it’s programmed with a phone number, if found, the backpack/lunch box/child can be scanned by ANY phone or ANY one and be returned back to its owner.
hopefully this will eliminate the need for the end of the year ‘lost and found’ box at school 🤣

Per usual Troy ISD killed it this year. We had a ton of great teacher items and I can say everyone who stopped by loaded up and is ready for school to start!

On another note, my helper/future employee also killed it this year! He’s not on social media but he assembled, glued, nailed, setup/taken down a great portion of this event.
…. All he asked for was a snow cone machine…

Can’t wait for next year as well as to add many more schools!
