The Clan Buchanan -

About the middle of the thirteenth century, Gibert, seneschal to the Earl of Lennox, obtained from him a part of the lands of Buchanan in Stirlingshire and took his name from them. An ecclesiastical origin is claimed for the surname, as in Gaelic a Buchanan is known as ‘Mac-a-Chanonaich — the Son of the Canon — and the place-name Buchanan (Both-chanain) really means the canon’s seat.

Inspired by the blanket baby Harry is wrapped in, in the movie The Sorcerer’s Stone when dropped off at his aunt and uncle’s house. This classic tartan was designed originally for the baby wrapping and wearing community, it became very special to the community as representation for those who have experienced loss and gotten their “Rainbow Baby”, since the name is “The One Who Lived”.

This tartan is in no way affiliated with the franchise, only inspired by the original blanket that was used in the films, and is a unique design. It is July’s Tartan of the month because Harry Potter’s Birthday is in July.
