Antiguan Black Artsy Crafter

Antiguan Black Artsy Crafter Afro-centric inspired, hand stenciled, painted, sewn and knitted, scaeves embelished with authentic African and Euro-Afro style prints and textiles.

My efforts here is to produce and offer for sale original one of a kind or limited production art scarves, blankets, throws, and smaller items (to be decided). The pieces are Afro-centric inspired. The pieces are made from textile or knitted fabric, and are embellished in various ways e.g. painted, stenciled, appliqued, and tasseled all creatively constructed and applied from scratch. The textile

use are either authentic African textile or Euro-African style prints. If there is any particular interest in any of the pieces shown here, a special order can be placed. Fabrics are very interesting source of history and culture, and understanding the process of making the textile and prints will be very interesting to know and reflect on. I will share my discoveries about the various textiles and history here. I very much look forward to your input and remarks. I am sure I will find all of it valuable.

Hi again everyone. Just a brief. I am lucky to have a book with Frank Walter art from his exhibition at the la Biennale di Venezia. My sister, Sharon Foster of Alicia Dean Artworks, UK acquired a copy for me. Her web address is:
https://aliciadeanartworks.wixsite.com/aliciadeanartworks.
Just cut and paste the link into your search 🙂
Anyway, thank you Sharon for bringing Frank Walter to my awareness.
As for me, I am a licensed clinical social worker in NYC, in the field of mental health and psychiatry (which means mental health and advocacy are my passion) I am also passionate about art and loves to engage in crafts. I am also connected here as Antiguan Black Artsy Crafter on Facebook.

First textile video share of the year🎉
A comment. Ancient African textile creativity and what has come since the great debacle of slavery and colonialism, textile creativities from Africans of the Diaspora, are African. This includes creations from African-American Hip Hop Nation. I like the T-shirt the child artist is wearing. Old and young is one.

I haven't had a chance to do any creating, which is sad and frustrating. I am caught up completing a task. I have been researching though. I am enjoying my searches and loving the knowledge and creativity I am finding. I am thinking of history and Afrocentric design. I have posted some videos. I hope if this post finds you you will like, share and check my page.

I found this wonderful, but short, video below. I really enjoyed watching it. I hope you do too.

The Redemption Song - continually until everyone knows the lyrics.

Ehi draws on her background as a textile artist to discuss a strip of Asanti cotton cloth, as well as African fabrics and textiles in general.
